Here is a poor pic of the Plasma rifle still in the box before the
trigger malfunction which I fixed

Now with the problem fixed I will post a few more good pics and some video

Well today I received my Halo 3 laser tag Plasma Rifle
Its a hefty item, colors and style just like tha game
I think that the sound could be closer, the over heat vents
pop out after a twenty round burst (there is a counter on the rifle)
it starts at 100 and if you hold the trigger in after twenty rapid shots
the vents pop open, you have to close them by hand, I think that they should retracked by them selves. This Plasma rifle will make a nice
Halo 3 Display along with the Plasma pistol (still waiting on that item)
I will post pictures and maybe some video later.

Is it worth the hefty pricetag it carries?

Re: Halo 3 Coventant Plasma Rifle Arrived

I was getting ready to post some pictures and a video
last night....But the trigger on the rifle malfunctioned.
The top half of the trigger pushed in and would not come out of the
pistol grip:eek, when I finally got the trigger out and back on track
it no longer pushed in to fire the rifle :confused :angry
boy am I pissed, I did not even have this thing a whole day and it
breaks, Normaly I would not fret on this because I could take it back to the store and exchange it for a new one, but NO...this was mail order from
HotTopic, so I have to call to get a return number and a pre-paid fed-ex
shipping lable and send it back.

So do I get a new one if they have any more and hope the same thing does not happen
or just get my money back

I was going to try to take it apart but I counted over 15 screws to take out
and no doubt some of the parts are snaped to gether and may break

The only high light here is that I only have to deal with my own dissapointment and not that of a child or other family member that i may have bought this for.

Holy Cow, those are so cool! Sorry to hear about your situation. I hope it works out for you in the end. Thanks for the pics.

After I cooled off and had some time I fixed the trigger problem

My plasma pistol arrived today. In some ways it is cooler than I expected and in some ways not as cool.

It definitely looks like a toy. Very plastic with a not great quality paint job in the few places where it is painted (pools of paint that ran before drying, for example).

It looks kind of interesting lit up. The sound effects are loud and decent -- but not great. The vibration effect on shooting is cool. It is substantial enough that people not holding it can see the subtle jolt when shooting. Makes it look powerful.

I am tempted to do a paint-over.

I saw the plasma rifle at HT the other day, and I agree with the statement that it looks reallllllllly plastic; I wasn't very impressed at all.

Looks like a great project for a new paintjob. :thumbsup
I would be tempted myself but the retail of $120 and $70 puts them in a range I am not willing to pay at the moment. :confused

Here are a couple of photos of my plasma pistol, one with my hand as a scale for reference. Note that my hand is not as large as the Master Chief's presumably is.

One cool thing they did with this is if you hold down the trigger long enough for the gun to "overheat", the top part pops up when you release the trigger as in the game.

I received my plasma pistol the other day as well
I did not have a problem with the paint job but i do think
that there should have been a light meter on the back
right where the re-load button is.
In the game the cicular light ring pulsed every time that you take
a shot but it is what it is and at a lower cost then the plasma rifle
not to sure I would want to carry both around with me in
costume. but you never know
