glasses, how much do you wear yours and how is the paint on the sole holding up? I really like the lighter grey, huge improvement.

On my pair I wound up cutting through the outer grey fabric layer in places since sections of extra glue had completely bonded the fabric to the sole around the toe. It looks like the same material and I had to use a fresh exacto to prevent the fabric from tearing the rubber toe. The soles are molded in a white material and painted. These are second batch with no-tail splatter. What paint is the factory using, they should lighten up that grey.

Not sure if this has been discussed, but I discovered there are different sized ankle buckles for different sized shoes. Does anyone know how many variations of the buckles there are?

The wiring for these and the V2s should be exactly the same - AKA crap.

I have no idea why these are so hard to make for the factory in China. They make tons of kids shoes with flashing LED's and they don't seem to be as fragile as these imitation Air Mags.

i havent been wearing them besides tests in the house for the last week but when i painted them i wore them everyday for a good 2 weeksand the paint held up no problem i only repainted my soles because i reshaped the heel cups i was thinking of putting down a flat sealant but theyve held up good without it

Got home from the DRs office.. And this is what i got as a surprise.. Traxming said wend as delivery date.. And then changed to tomorrow since it was handed over to usps this morning at 7am.. But usps came through with a wonderful surprise!


Only thing i noticed was couple of bits of extra glue thag aren't too noticeable and that the one toe looks more boot like than the other...

And they actually have a flat rectangle lithium battery encased in the plastic along with protection circuit
The LEDs are also slightly better on a better circuit print board.

Im just asking about what changes I can make to them.

i knew they had to be slightly different since everyone complains about the v2 breaking within days but my hc shoes have been fine for months lol

so are we anywhere closer to getting an airair shoe ro should i take the plunge and get v2s?

1.Most kids shoes with flashing lights are not hi-tops with a recharge port and a switch.
2.The wiring in those shoes is all concealed in the sole along with the battery and they use a pressure switch to activate.
3. Fails in these shoes is mainly due to stresses on the wiring and joins.

I saw a kids shoes the other week where one did not work, so they have fails as well as these.

So it is an upgrade from the V2? Still thin crap wires that break due to the stresses of running through a shoe.

Just finished the straps.



I peicemealed it together with parts on adafruit.

im overall happy but the el was kinda slim so I had to diffuese it with translucent plastic.

un-patiently waiting for the logo's haha!

Still been knocking around if I should rip the soles open to diffuse the lights. How do Yall think it would turnout if you diffused with a sanded clear greenish plastic cut into the shape of the triangles? Would the color be more accurate?

I feel like if I'm gonna do EL in the sole I might as well wait until I buy some v2's as I don't wanna put too much into these as these will be me "wear" pair.

It looks to me like they are using at least 2 different sized ankle buckles but I only have a size 8 and a size 9 to compare. Maybe this was some kind of error at the factory?

I don't know about this. Right now I have US8, US9.5 and US13 all on hand and all three have the same size Heel Cup and and same size Ankle Buckle yet there is a good 1" height difference between the US8 and the US13".

They didn't bother making large and small in these parts because that is extra cost and they won't spend that on something as trivial when there is far more pressing errors to address first.

Possibly, they may have made 2 sizes, I always assumed they stuck to 1 size.

I wouldn't say upgrade, more slight modification.
The cables are the same thin white ones.

Given you seem to have good communication with them, maybe you can suggest that they don't glue the wires into the Heel Cup. I think gluing them is fine if you never wear the shoes. I would also suggest that fails happen because of the way we move when we walk and this places many unexpected stresses on the wires. Something
has to give and it comes down to what is the weakest link of the chain here - the wiring that breaks.

I'm not sure what's up with the ankle buckles then. I'm not trying to debate, its just that the 2 pairs I bought a week apart are definitely different. The moulding inside each has different numbers and one is a centimetre wider. The bevels on the strap slots are slightly different too. They are 2 different molds for sure.
On the size 8, there is an "8" molded into it, and it's smaller than the 9 which has an "11" molded into it.

The size 8 buckle width is just over 12cm

The size 9 is about 13cm

See the difference

The height however seems to be the same.

Too bad the height is the same. A shorter one could have compensated for our shorter uppers. My 9s also came with the 11 version.

Gotcha. Not sure why the factory would need to make different ones as discussed. I would have thought too that one size would be cheaper for them.

I'm thinking of making a mold and vac forming some ankle buckles to allow more room for electronics.

And worst comes to worst, and I ruin the spare shoe, I'll create a dissection video so we can all see what's inside these things.

Found a guy who had the electronics on one of his break within 24 hours of getting them. HC replaced the single shoe without ever asking for the broken one back. I bought it off him.

...combine that with the fact that I signed up for HC's mailing list to get 20% off my first order and I got 3 shoes for EXACTLY the same price as 2.
