Hey everyone, i know some of you are not exactly comfortable with modding your HC mags and i was thinking of doing it for people at a low cost and it would include the flattening of laces and sides, installation of the decals and strap kit, you can send me your shoes and supplies and i'll charge an even lower costs or i purchase supplies etc. if anyone is interested please let me know. i got my shoes last week i love them and am modding them

I've gotten the Mag bug again and since I really want to mod the crap out of a pair of shoes the HC is a more cost effective option for me than the V2. (I really want tot replace the "ears" with a new set...yes, I am crazy haha)

I'm normally a size 8, and will be slimming the toe so I was wondering what you veterans of these shoes would recommend in terms of sizing, since I intend on wearing these.

You should show your work before giving people the idea to send you their shoes plus the only hard mod is installing new electronics and slimming the toe by cutting not steaming niether of wich you said you'd do so there really is no reason anyone who wants there shoes modded wouldn't do it themselves

lol I think about all replica making stores the same way, I see Wolverine leather jacket replicas on theebay and their price is high despite the wrong design, having wrong seams and proportions being noticeably off compared to the movie versions. Yet they all have customers so they keep making them the same way. If they have the reference, tools, skills, and money to do it right, why do it wrong at all? Simple: Because half of the people won't notice that its different from the original (unlike us LOL)

You got that right. When I wear my V2s people often think it's the real thing. I wish they were! But for so much less than the RD's, I could justify getting a couple of pairs of them. If Nike were to release a better-looking version this year, even without lights, I'd add those to the collection if it were only a couple hundred. Wouldn't be that hard to make something since they already have the plans. Just drop the lighting, fill the rest of the sole where the battery was with Phylon or even Lunarlon or something and release them. The customer base is here. Even people who don't know about the movie seem to like them.

I'm still waiting on my samples, and from my communications, they are still finding it extremely difficult to do the finger pull holes. Just waiting to see what they end up like as they are using my uppers which I sent for them to replicate, in particular the thicker uppers and the single seam down the back and the single seam down the side, rather than a whole piece stitched for the top side only,which is what these V2 and HC have.
I'll have to wait and see what it ends up like before making a decision but I can tell you that they use non UV stable rubber and thats to keep costs down, and unless specifically requested, thats what they insist on using.

I feel like these run .5 big so since you're going to slimming the toebox, I'd say stick with the size 8 - the size 7 might be too small.

I agree. I normally wear an 8.5 in Nike and DC shoes. I ordered a 9 HC and they feel like 9.5 to me. I ordered a pair of 8s to replace them, I might sell or exchange the 9s.

I'm size US8 and have HC mag US8.

My big toe comes to about 3/8 to 1/2 inch from the tip, depending on how I shift my foot around.

has anyone thought about an extension for the tongue? just a piece that slips over the existing one? and did mark end up making a letter kit?

mark made a kit look up mag rubber decal on the forum and it'll be tree he sells them for 28 shipped and hey look pretty good, as for the tongue I'm working on something but is suggest making a new one entirely and replacing not placing over the old one

I've been wanting to make that, but I suck at sewing . I need a bunch of time spare to make a few tongue extensions. Cavx extended his tongues and it looks good.

Mine are the taller V2s though, not the HCs which are not as tall. You would not want the same 20% additional tongue mod I did for a pair HCs.

So according to an HC rep, the first batch of 500 Mags had a greenish tint on the midsole and the spatter had tails. From 500 on, they midsole is now more gray and the spatter looks more like speckles or dots. Not sure if they (HC) requested this running change or the factories in China decided to switch it up.

Hmmm, I wonder if my replacements will be green-tail or grey-dot.

Given these are the same soles used on the V2, I'm gonna go with the factories in China made the change.

That and it could be a different team of workers painting the soles or management telling them to work faster (demand is high so were going to 10x our output, so pick it up people!) Splatter dots are faster to do than the drizzly tails and dots.

I've worked a bit with factories in China on manufacturing sports and fitness products, in hard and soft goods. So I have an understanding of how speed and quality control can change with one phone call or an email.

I was so close to buying them shoes, but the Air 90's fit very badly on my feet locally.

Anyways, that looks about like the color from my charged bottle.

The logos were printed reversed so protected by the plastic on the outside.

I laid the sheet down with the print side up, built a wall right around the sheet.

I then mixed 100Gram of rubbber with 15% GITD powder, vacuumed (degassed to extract all the bubbles) and poured. The sheet set at about 3mm thick. It is flexible and glows bright enough to light the room up when I turn the lights out.

The only thing, you must use a sharp blade to trim as the scissors may de-laminat the printed sheet from the rubber. If that happens, you probably can't just glue it back down without the risk of smudging the print.

In the sample image above, I also glued white vinyl to the back of the rubber to make attachment into the strap easier and to block out the back light.

I see. That explains the color evenness. The paint will not self-level at all, so you have to manually ensure the layer thickness for color/brightness consistency.
