HalloweenCostumes.com "Back to the Future 2 Light Up Shoes"

Finally did the cut and glue slim toe I took the toe cap out completely to get the sock toe look from the movie they feel great on the foot

Looks really good. The side profile is now so sleek. The ONLY thing bugging me about these shoes is that extra stitching around the laces. If these were V2s, they would totally rock.

@cavx yeah I know it be nice to have v2s but I just don't have the money to spend on shoes I plan on ripping up right now lol do you have any photos of how you did your tongue extension? All the ones on the forum are no longer there

I'm sure someone will eventually figure a way to mod it to get it smoother.

Thank you for answering @glasses Whenever you can, please post a photo of the sole, to see how it looks glued back and get even a better idea of how it should be done! Great work man, keep it up! Mine should arrive in a week and a half and can´t wait to begin with some mods! Congrats on yours, they look perfect and it helps that they are made with the HC´s, so people will feel more safe at buying those and working on those saving a lot of bucks!
Hey man I re did my outrigger look I wanted them to stick out a bit more I really like how it came out again doing the soles this way is not accurate the real shoes soles stuck out as a whole but I really like the way the sole looks when only the lot up area sticks out anyways here's some pics I made some rubber pieces shaped like how I wanted them then cut the bottom of the soles open spread them apart stuck my shape in and just filled the sole flat with some glue

The answer is simple. Get them to ditch the HC upper and just use the V2 upper with no branding. All cosmetic issues solved.

Glasses, that looks even better. What did you use to hold the shape? I used a poly carb (which is like a flexible, shatter resistant version of Perspex) strip to hold mine out.

Awesome man! I Really like that shape as well as the original! Thanks for the pics, now I get it! That mod really adds something more to the shoe, that curvy shape makes you stare at it!

cavx I molded some half oval pieces out of some hot glue I just kept building it up until it became a solid piece that still had some good flex the I just wedged them in the soles I'm really happy with how they came out

Hot glue. OK cool. I did use it as a filler for a time on the gaps on my clear sole replacement, but was not sure how it would handle the heat of a hot summer day. I've since removed it all and used more of the elastomer to fill in those gaps.

cavx Yeah the wedges are the only part made of the hotglue I'm using shoe goo to fill in the sole once it's been wedged I doubt the glue would get hot enough to warp the shape it wild have to be pretty hot out and like you'd have to sit in the sun for a while lol

I actually did tell the head of quality control about the V2 shoe when I spoke to him about my shoes.

I honestly do not know why they made a new upper. I get the no branding thing, but really, a new upper that is not tall enough and has too many other flaws. Especially when they all come out of the same factory. It makes no sense.

Shoe Goo is pretty cool stuff. It just can add weight to the shoe though, especially when filling gaps. Until I filled my outriggers with GITD, they have always been hollow. I am actually curious now to see how much weight all my rubber mods have added to the shoes. They are like 350 grams raw, so will be interesting to see what they weight now.

Perhaps the laces are the time-sink of assembling the shoes. And they make a significant gain on time by doing it HC-style.

@cavx Hey do you have any tips for adding a new tongue?

When I do my display pair, I'll do it a little different to the way I did my wear pair. I will use glue at the base and only sew the sides. I'm sure I posted the tongue pattern before, but in case I have not, here it is.

These come from the "real NIKE MAG" patterns. I did make up all three parts, but chopped most of the bottom part off by the time I actually fitted them. I also extended the top part by 20% to replicate the movie shoe. Given your shoes are not as tall as mine, you might be best just using the standard height or only adding 10%. The top of the tongue should come flush with the base of the cuff.
