Halloween 2011- What are you planning/ working on?

I'm planning on going as a little sister from Bioshock 2, and having my boyfriend dress as a thuggish splicer. The going's pretty slow though, I've been lazy. Only half way through my syringe, and big daddy doll. Haven't even started costumes yet. Need to get things going if I'm going to get it done by Halloween.

Stormtrooper. Unless I run out of time in which case I'll do a grim reaper costume. Again. This will be the fifth one.

Wanted to do a Terminator (infiltration unit) and Resistance Fighters but lost one guy because he said "Yea I dont think anyone will get it, I mean not everyone has seen Terminator" Me: /facepalm

I'm in the beginning stages of making a latex catsuit for a crossplay version of Gambit from the X-Men comics as well as a Nightcrawler costume for a friend. We work together doing special effects makeup at a local theme park, so we'll be paired up on Halloween ^.^

I've got two planned. For work, the Friday before, I'll be Arthur Dent. I already cleared it, so I get to sit around in pyjamas, a dressing gown, and slippers all day. My only worry is that I'll get annoyed with my towel.
For our friends' party the next day, my Polesitting-inspired Miho Tohya. I wore it at D*C and all I have to do is replace the ribbon. Do you know how hard it is to wind ribbon through hair? Not easy!

Almost done with Logan from X2, Just waiting on my Jacket but I have screen accurate Pants, Belt, Watchband, Dog Tags, and Claws. I have also lost 20lbs to look more lean which has been the hardest part. My custom Heron X2 Leather jacket should be here this week so I can start breaking that sucker in!

I love your claws!

How do you plan on weathering your jacket? Or are you just going to start wearing it to get the leather all worn in?

Thanks!!! the claws are Metal. As for the Jacket, I am going to wear it a ton, I also am going to use 90% Isopropyl alcohol and dull down the shine a bit. I am thinking maybe take it outside and beat the living crap out of it karate style lol. Thing is with the X2 style the Yellow and Burgundy areas on the jacket are so bright they scream I need to dull those areas a bit.

You can also toss it into the dryer (not wet, just as is) with a couple of tennis balls to beat it up a bit and if you want it to look weathered, toss it down on the sidewalk and stomp/scoot your feet around on it. I did a ton of weathering on my Sweet Pea jacket to get rid of the shine, so I ended up using a lot of different techniques. The dryer one will kill any kind of shine there is in it.

The Tennis ball idea is awesome! I may try that to help the break in process. You sweet pea costume is killer! :thumbsup

Yeah, just warn anyone in your house about the tennis balls, or leave a reminder for yourself that you're doing it. I put my jacket in before I went to bed to let it tumble overnight and scared the crap out of myself when I forgot that loud thumping noises would be emanating from my kitchen all night.

Working on my Witch King costume right now for Halloween. Hopefully it will be done by then.

im going as what i have for a few years now the next Doctor. also working on a custom sonic to go with it. im also thinking of dying my hair, so the 12th Doctor can be a ging.

Still gathering stuff for a Doc Brown radiation suit. Currently building the remote and I have the shoes, coverall and watches already. Just need to find the right wig and finish the remote.

Well. That's alarmingly accurate. Well done man.

I made some aliens uscm marine armor. but have updated it to special forces with some upgrades

This is a tough subject for me. I used to love Halloween and then got married to someone who DOESN’T. She will never dress up or do anything other than handing out candy to kids and even that she wants to leave that to me. So we never got to parties or anything like that.
I’m also a lifelong historical re-enactor. I have US military uniforms from 1898 to modern times (including my own Army Captain’s uniform but I don’t wear that anymore now that I’m a civilian again). I work in a large office and each year they do something for Halloween but I never show up in anything because bust my chops about how it would HAVE to be a military uniform (which is really all I have, either historical or sci-fi based). This year I’m going to side-step all that. I went to Kennedy Space center last month and it re-kindled my interest in the space program. I’m putting together what will be a pretty realistic NASA shuttle astronaut training uniform. The flight jacket is a copy of what they really wear, NASA royal blue color, with correct patches including a 30th anniversary commemorative NASA issued and a STS-135 (the last shuttle launch) patch. The flight suit underneath will look like a normal NASA shuttle training suit until you look at the patches. I bought a set of “Armageddon” Roughneck patches, made to emulate COL Sharp’s suit with USAF astronaut wings and my name and old Army rank on them (I found someone who makes them exactly like used in the movie). I went with the shuttle that Bruce Willis was on, as the other patch isn’t as recognizable as the other one.
Anyway, my “no military uniform” rule will be unbroken. Like most people, I wanted to be an astronaut as a kid, so this is something I’ve always wanted to put together anyway.
