You will be happy to know that I have linked up with a new jeweler who specializes in wax carving and multiple casting and who also has some idea's where the stone is concerned and LOVES CRONOS.
All four are essential in my opinion to a great final display piece.
We are talking in terms of creating static display pieces to begin with and then moving on to ones with moveable/posable parts.
I turn over my waxes and research material to him in another week.

Thanks Tim! Yeah, it's a tricky thing convincing some people that what you are paying them to do for you is what you want done!

My waxes have been turned over to my new Jeweler and heavy consultation has begun.
Apologies for the wait on this one guy's but I really feel I've taken it as far as I can and I really want it to be finished up right.

The project got kicked into high gear last week believe it or not and I should have a FINISHED PIECE to show in the coming weeks with an interest list to be posted in the JY shortly after.

I turned over the waxes to my newest jeweler some time ago and quite frankly moved on to other projects and forgot about it.
A couple of weeks ago I received a message from someone here at RPF asking if they could be on my interest list and when the Cronos would be finished.
After checking with my jeweler I was surprised to find that he had actually finished out one side pretty much and I then gave him the go ahead to start in on the bottom which, last I saw (last week) was all laid out and carving had begun.
I expect to see the small pieces cast this week with the larger halves soon after!

Just spoke to my jeweler and he say's the small parts are cast!
I asked about the carving progress for the back and he used the following word: EPIC.

Here at long last is the promised progress photo. Parts of the photo that may be un-clear: the blue wax shown is a leg that will not be cast at this time. If there is enough interest the leg can be cast up later for a version of the device with legs extended and possible other moving bits.
The bit's still on a sprue in this photo are the snake dial, the needle and the needle tray (all cast separately in hopes of doing a future more articulated Cronos)
The triangular pink piece is the working model for the crystal.
I have just made contact with a source for the crystal which means that they will be made from GENUINE Crystal and not resin cast as they were in the movie.
The jeweler has also decided to go further with the detail so there will be more progress to show in the near future.

I don't recognize the prop itself, but that doesn't stop this being a really interesting thread. The updates are captivating. The intricate detail is amazing. Well done!

Almost forgot to mention...
With this project kicked into high gear and nearing completion I have decided to have the jewelers go for more accuracy with the waxes. I have also been approached by an old friend with a contact to a crystal shop who will be making the Cronos' Crystal in what ever quantities I need.
