Done / Completed Guardians of the Galaxy : Starlord Gravity Mine and Infinity Orb

Re: Guardians of the Galaxy : Starlord Gravity Mine & Infinity Orb

Kind of interested, but are you set on the final price?

Re: Guardians of the Galaxy : Starlord Gravity Mine & Infinity Orb

I am intrested, been looking for one of these to add into my starlord build and stop my damned orb rolling of its shelf :)

Re: Guardians of the Galaxy : Starlord Gravity Mine & Infinity Orb

LOLL .. agreed, those sneaky orbs are all over the place!!!

Here's the status on this kit .. the first mold I did was not up to par with my expectations so even though I continue to cast parts into it (legs and hinges), I will still redo it. I already received my pressure pot and I'll have a vaccuum chamber on its way soon. That will allow me to do better parts for you guys.

That being said, I didn't throw the current mold away, I'm still casting into it at the same time that I'm doing my volvo casts which is as often as I find the time!! What this does is that it's gonna give me a big bunch of kits that will need a little more flashing removal, putty and sanding but still look beautiful. These will go for less then my current 125$ price tag. Basically, I was thinking to offer them for 95$. They would include all the same stuff, 3 legs, 3 hinges, the 3 circuits and 3 rods for assembly.

There ya go! As soon as I'm done doing my greeblies mold, I'll start offering them, I'll probably have something like 5-10 kits already done and ready to go! The priority will go to those who expressed interest and were added to the list!

Re: Guardians of the Galaxy : Starlord Gravity Mine & Infinity Orb

I have an orb now, so eagerly awaiting this! In for a $95 kit.

Digging the $95 kit always in the mood to do a little more work to save some moola! Totally gonna do it!

Re: Guardians of the Galaxy : Starlord Gravity Mine & Infinity Orb

Small update guys!!

I tried my new pressure pot for the first time with these last night .. and it came out perfect!!! First one I'm actually happy with now because of all the undercut! So I'm redoing my mold as soon as the vaccuum chamber arrives and then, it's casting time!!

Keep watching this thread, I'll have pictures later!

Re: Guardians of the Galaxy : Starlord Gravity Mine & Infinity Orb

Hey guys,
I'm super excited to report that my Vaccuum chamber showed up this morning, so I'm finally gonna be able to properly redo the molds for the legs and the hinge. Also do the molds for the tiny wiring details!

Once I get the wiring mold done, I'll start casting these and will be able to start selling lower cost kits from the first molds, and normal priced (hopefully) flawless cast from the 2nd set of molds.

I should do that in the next days .. will post updates with pictures of each steps!

Keep watching this space!

Re: Guardians of the Galaxy : Starlord Gravity Mine & Infinity Orb

Updates? Pics?

Actually, I do :)

If you guys have been following my other HIC panel thread, last update was me taking some time off because of a double spinal disc herniation! The worst of it is now behind and I'm back being able to walk around and not staying stuck in bed .. so that's good.

So I had received my vaccuum chamber which I played around with and it's really a nice little piece of tech! I experimented on resin, and now, I'm ready to finally redo my gravity mine molds. Plus I'm FINALLY doing the greeblies mold too which I had put on hold because of the nature of the parts that is so small, I would never be able to pull it out with a pressure pot and a vac chamber.

So here's some pics

And more pics of he kits from the first mold. As I said, I'm selling them for 95$ as I'm not satisfied with how they came out! I know I can do much better, but since I have molds for it, might as well use them and I know people here will still have fun building the kit! Sanding and putty never killed anyone before!

Here's the flaws on these parts...
1. when I molded them, the silicone left bubbles in the cavity corners of the master .. so that leaves small bubbles to clean.
2. the seam line is not as small as it should be, but again, very easily removable, even with your nail and a knife / sanding paper.
3. the holes to plug in the rods between the hinges will need to be drilled cleaner. Again, silicone left bubbles in there, and there's some resin crap in there. The hole is there, but will need some cleanup.

The next molds will be made from degased silicone and then pressure cast. From now on, I only expect perfect molds and copy coming out of my shop!

As soon as the greeblies mold is done, then these kits already cast will go out to the people in line.
