Re: Guardians of the Galaxy : Starlord Gravity Mine & Infinity Orb
I thought a lot about it .. and decided that it was too complicated to do. First, I would have needed to build the hinges in 2 parts, top and bottom and keep them empty. Plus, the top would have needed to be done in acrylic so that the light would passe through.
Then, the wiring would have needed to go through the rods the goes through the legs into each hinges.
And somewhere in there, you would have needed a switch to toggle it on and off. Perhaps that one could have been put behind one of the hinges.
That would have meant a lot more work for me .. more molds etc .. plus the fact that most people won't do it this way so that would have meant, everyone would have needed to close the hinges, putty them .. so more work in general for everyone!
THAT BEING SAID ...
You could do this by buying the cheaper kit, cutting all 3 hinges in half .. then, emptying it, putting the led and resistor in there. Then buying hollow aluminium 1/8 tubing for the legs and throwing the wiring in there. Then, you get a small switch that you install behing one hinge. Definitely doable .. but you'll see that there's not so much space in there.
Oh and you need power somehow ...
AND the fact that this was CGI .. not the actual props since it was static as seen above!
Hmm what are the chances to outfitting these with white LED lights as seen in the movie? Or glow white EL tape? Just thinking out of the OCD box again y'all!!
