Guardians of the Galaxy (Post-release)

I thought this was the worst of the series so far. The "sins" felt forced and like the guy just wanted to hear himself talk.

True. But like I said, most of the time he's been off because it seems like he missed stuff. For example, for Death Race 2000, he was confused about why Frankenstein had to shake the hand of Mr. President when he's "won the race twice before", completely missing the fact that when the "won the race twice before" was brought up, Frankenstein was in-character, and he was in fact the latest one who hadn't met Mr. President in person before, and the previous two races won were by other people playing Frankenstein.

To be fair, we can blame the source material. GoG is a freaking awesome movie. Not without its issues, but the CS guy was probably grasping at straws.

Also... if you intend to find "faults" in a movie with a talking racoon and boots with rockets that can lift a man and not burn his feet off, you're kinda setting yourself up to fail.
 
Star Wars 77 can be torn to bits too.
Doesn't make it any less fun as hell and greatest theater experience many have had. in a long long time.
I knew the comics so I didn't get delightfully blindsided like many with all these new characters, I envy that because everything would have been just totally new like SW 77 was when I was a kid. GOTG brought back the fun of the summer of 77 for me as much as could be possible.
And I am a jaded SOB too. That's a small miracle.

Part of the reason why I shared it, because how funny it is that he's pointing out flaws in a comic book film from Marvel, in addition to some of the funny stuff he says. Again, sometimes it's like he's not paying attention to the movie.
 
I enjoyed GOTG very much and look forward to seeing another, but I just hope it's jovial attitude does not carry over into the rest of the Marvel Universe. I do not want to see Captain America doing a dance off, or Thor teamed up with a cute lil' critter, just to appeal more to kids.
 
Just saw the movie for the first time. My brother had warned me that I may want to skip the prologue, not telling me why. Damn was that bit a kick in the nuts because of personal experiences. But hey, just a movie. The payoff at the end made up for it.

I enjoyed it, especially Rocket´s lines. But I must say that it was not as great as I had expected it to be.
Great design work, although sometimes so much visual information that the imagery felt overloaded. Nice character work, from backstories to developments. All in all, an IMO okay movie that I need to watch again, because my current opinion may be influenced by my company falling asleep during the third act ;) Which is not a good sign because she really enjoyed the other Marvel movies :p

Also the twilight one is great. The girl sighs like 600 times.

They are pretty funny, but I agree that he grabs at straws and misses some important points that prove his points to be wrong.

Just watch the ones of movies you DONT like!!!

Daredevil is pretty great... (Not the actual movie, it's 2nd to worst only to green lantern, LOL!)
 
Not directly related to the movie, but there is now an unofficial war going between the Guardians and the Avengers.

Pratt is from the Seattle area, and Chris Evans is New England. Apparently, the two started it up on twitter, each rooting for their own home team. Whichever team wins, the other actor will go to the winning team's local Children's Hospital in full costume for the kids. I'm sure the kids down at Children's will enjoy meeting Captain America (obviously, I'm a Seahawks fan :p)

Man, I'm New Hampshire born and raised but now I need to root for Seattle. Meeting Captain America is so much cooler than meeting Starlord.
 
Without going back and reading this whole thread, I have a couple of questions. Why did the Asgardians give the Aether (sp?) to the collector? He doesn't seem to be very reputable. And now that his place exploded, where is the Aether now?

Also do we know, or have any idea who Quill's father is? I would guess Asgardian, maybe?

Neither of those questions were answered. They said that Quill's father was "something ancient" that the Novans hadn't seen before. It was hinted at that Quill's father hired the Ravagers to take him from Earth and deliver him but that they reneged on the deal for some reason. Maybe it was simply, to quote Yondu: "That guy was a *******."

(Yondu was played wonderfully my Rooker. He almost stole the show.)
 
My pet theory -- unsupported by anything -- is that Peter's father is Adam Warlock (whose cocoon we saw in the Collector's collection, and open and empty in the post-credits scene) who uses the as-yet-unseen Time Gem to go back and beget Peter, hire the Ravagers, etc. Dunno if that's even remotely how it's going to play out, but...

I do think the Æther (Reality Gem) is still in his collection, as only the Asgardians knew he had it. I'm more worried about Hydra having the Mind Gem. I'm also curious if the Power Gem is going to be the source of the Nova Force going forward, which empowers our own Nova, Rich Rider. I'm also also curious if the gems on the Infinity Gauntlet in Asgard's weapons vault are just stand-ins or vessels for the forces contained in the Gems themselves...

Arg. So many things!
