Guardians of the Galaxy (Post-release)

Sorry, I just - - - couldn't - - - refrain.

Dicks was said maybe three times...welcome to PG-13 land, where even the F-bomb is acceptable.

And I don't mind the paper baddies getting mowed down.
But look, even A-hole guy was crushed in his ship, another guy had his head turned into black goo, all off camera deaths of course. And Yondu stabbed about 20 paper dudes in one scene alone.

Of course killing aliens is fine though! They could make a run time of four hours with just two hours tacked on of aliens getting mowed down and it would still be OK.

you don't need a bunch of curse words to make a movie good. Saying dick once is fine. but 20 times is way overused. I don't like people talking like that. It just makes them sound like idiots.

Outside of what I feel was a couple of unnecessary cuss words that took me out of the movie, I did enjoy Guardians of the Galaxy. I had a lot of hope pinned on this movie and while I liked it, I still think there were a few issues with it.

The movie seemed to just go too fast, you didn't get time to breathe and some of the characters seemed to suffer because of it. It almost seemed like it was condensed or an abridged version. The fast pace also made it a little hard to follow at times and didn't help the story. The "heart and soul" of the movie seemed forced and a little contrite. I think all the humor didn't help the "heart and soul" factor much. There was a little too much trying to make Quill/Pratt more the hero/sex symbol than he needed to be... hard to explain this one.

But, still what a fun ride of a movie. Chris Pratt should be the next big Hollywood thing - I hope Marvel has him signed to a multi-film contract before he gets too big and demands too much in salary. There are great actors doing amazing things in this - not necessarily great acting. But, how often do you see Glenn Close talking about Nova Corps and Xandar? Lots of fun stuff going on.

Years ago I suggested Chris Pratt might make a good Captain America... I think that while this movie kinda shows that he would have made a great Cap, some of his charm and wit may've been lost as Cap tends to be more stoic.

I'm going again tonight.

It just looks so good. I don't know how much of it was practical sets, and how much was CGI, and I don't care. They are getting ridiculously good at making it so you can't tell. Don't get me wrong, I'm very happy that Episode VII is making a big push with a lot of practical, because I think there must be something inherent in the building of something that lends itself to having a more lived in feel. Maybe it comes from found items and using whatever is on hand, but like I originally said, they are getting amazingly good. And dont get me started on how great Groot and Rocket look.

I wonder just how much was edited out. I bet there is so much more to see. I hope we end up with an extended cut and not just some deleted scenes in the extras. I would love to see a making of documentary.

I can't wait to get this bluray home.

I also had another revelation about what the sequel may be. A possible Phalanx invasion on the Kree led by Ultron. This would lead to the Richard Ryder version of Nova and maybe some appearances by the Titans like Starfox and Kronos.

I saw the 2D on saturday and was blown away. Personally this is as good as ANH and ESB.
I saw it again in IMAX 3D on Sunday and again even knowing what was coming I was still awe struck by this film.

I hope there will be a directors cut as it did feel short, but other wise the best Marvel film I have ever seen.

Thank you James Gunn.

Saw it again last night and it was just as great as the first time I saw it. I did pick up on a few more jokes that I missed the first time because I was laughing too much

It didn't feel like a comic book movie to me and I have grown to really dislike comic book movies. I dread all the crossover crap that's coming.

Wow I really didn't think the "d" word used in the film was even that bad at all. Was it a shocker that Captain America said "b@st@rd$" in Avengers? Some would consider that a little inappropriate for the kids.

C'Mon It's PG-13, not PG.

The success of this movie is astounding. I wonder how it's strength will relate to Captain America 3 and Batman v Superman?
