Grey Zon Studio

A year ago, I purchased a couple of large alien queen and predator skulls. After looking online, trying to find some info on these, I think they either came from or were recasts from this artist, who apparently does a lot of skulls and mounted heads. The link I found for the studio is down.. anyone have any info on this artist? Is he here? What's the scoop?

Grey Zone is out of business and has been gone for quite awhile. You can occasionally find G.Z. pieces on eBay.

I used to have the sculptors name memorized, but for the life of me I can't seem to recall it. I'm sure I'll remember tonight when I'm in bed about to drift off to sleepy land.

But I'll second what outlander said, the sculptor has been out of the business for many years now. I know he was living in New York, don't know if he still does. Grey Zon pieces are becoming increasingly more and more difficult to find. I've beated every bush trying to find a Darth Maul skull...those that have one, don't seem interested in selling. In the mean time, I do own an original Predator skull and DUNE Fremen krys knife.

The artist who did all the sculptures is Luis De La Fuente. His "bone" sculptures are second to none....
This guys is the best...make no bones about it......."sorry"
Luis has been doing several commissioned work for various nightclubs but may shortly be back amazing us with some more scuplts. He and another friend, Jeff Norman, may soon resurrect Grey Zon and I wouldn't be surprised if they re-release several of their past kits.
They currently are setting up their new studio in New York.

Cool news. For some reason the name Grey Zon has stuck in my mind and with the few pieces I have seen I am extremely impressed... any chance of getting to see examples of past works?

I've got one of his killer Darth Maul skulls.
He's also done the following. Am I missing anything?
Godzilla skull
Darkness skull
Predator skull
Alien warrior skull
Queen Alien skull
Gremlin skull
Drak skull
Cyclops skull
Dragonslayer dragon head
Queen Facehugger
Creature FTBL Hand
ROTJ Pig Guard

I have a recasted Gremlin skull that was far from perfect. I'd love to own an original one though.

You forgot the Independence Day Alien skull :)

Luis De La Fuente, Man haven't heard that name in a while. I have or had his number somewhere. He is in New York as Ed 209 and dropshipbob said.

He also did a Klingon skull that I've lusted after since I first saw it in a Pennsylvania basement. The Darth Maul is in my opinion over-rated, it missing a lower jaw and everything...

I've got the creature hand which he did, but I can hardly wait to replace it with the big, big hand that QMX is doing.

There's a nice article on him and the history of his company in an old issue of AFM (Amazing Figure Modeler) magazine.

He also did a Terminator skull (2 versions). I had one of these kits as well as the Darth Maul skull. Unfortunately...I sold them both off years ago. :(

I used to have the Maul, Klingon, Godzilla, Predator and Alien warrior skulls. Only have Maul and the Predator now. They were all pretty sweet and I'm still kicking myself for selling that Klingon.

I believe they also did a Yoda kit holding a lightsaber.

What do you mean, unfortunately? I consider it very fortunate that you sold that Maul to... ME. :love

Odd... I posted a reply yesterday and it's not here. :confused

Anyway, the Drac Skull was actually a casting of an Original Movie Skull, I have one and it even has Chris Walas Signature on the bottom of the Skull, I have yet to display it but I look forward to creating a Display for it :thumbsup

I have one of the Queen Skulls.
The detail is amazing and is about 2 1/2 feet long.

Also have a preditor skull.
The work is amazing on all he touches.

Tom

Great stuff.

Yeah, that Drac skull was another extremely cool one. Been looking for that one, too. Got the predator one but don't like that one enough to build it up. Will probably sell that one.
