Looks like clear epoxy or hot glue to me
Wasn't Red Leader the original Hero, the one that was sent off to make the full scale copies for the Yavin actors to interact with? It was Blue Leader then, but it got a repaint... and I seem to recall it was subtly different from the cast off models, like can be seen in the cockpit frame geometry here.Interesting that the cockpit has a piece of plastic for the windshield...not on any screen -used models as far as I know![]()
Yeah, maybe this is only temporary glue in there and is disclosed as such somewhere (in the fine print? lol) If it was really reassembled like this - oh boy.Could be…either way, I’m not sure what to make of a restoration that sloppily applies glue that was not there in the first place. Strange.
Did Heritage assemble the communicator as part of the consignment, I wonder?

Pretty sure it was done recently. There were never any jewels on that one during the show, just the hubs. The hubs were in a bag in the box with the rest of the original parts with the Communicators when Master Replicas documented it for their prop and they were there when John Long documented and made a casting of it for his kit. You can see that it was the original hubs that someone thought it was a good idea to destroy doing this (Note: the two divots in the center hub in the auction photo match the two divots that were in the original right-hand hub in the MR documentation photos). Looks like they damaged the original hubs pretty badly. Whoever buys it can replace the hubs pretty easily but not sure why it was not left like it was seen on the show since the parts were there.Do you know it was done recently? Seems like they could have been lost any time in the last 50 odd years.
I think the glue might JB Weld. If it was E6000 I don't think it would look gray on the bottom of the mic plate. That was not on there before. And I agree, E6000 would have been the way to go here. Nobody outside this board would ever notice any of this thoughWell, the problem with Kydex is it is very difficult to find a glue that actually sticks to it in any permanent way. If this new glue seen around the aluminum control plate is something like E6000 it can be easily peeled off of the Kydex without causing any damage.
I remember seeing one of the XWing model (and a YWing) at an Expo, in Brussels, in 1977 just when SW was opening in theaters. I was mistaken, Red Two is the original Blue Leader.I remember seeing one of the XWing model (and a YWing) at an Expo, in Brussels, in 1977 just when SW was opening in theaters. I was wondering
why none of them had "glass" on their cockpit windowsI know better now, so why this piece of plastic was added?
The Lost In Space robot parts: as seen in photos, he had a replica in progress collecting dust in his studio for years. So he would have had replica parts around. I hope the folks who found the pieces were correct in their identification. I know the original props had been altered for reuse years later and, later still, restored (possibly with some repro parts), meaning these parts might never have been reinstalled after those post-LIS modifications, but saved by someone. There are, and have been for quite a while, makers of very good TOS braid. How do we know he didn't get some, and now that they've been found among his stuff, it's assumed to be original? (That could be asked about much of the stuff of course.)
Both. They modified some of flameguns for the television series and some new ones were made as well with the plug on the back side and there would be a hole still present on the front where the original switch was. I think there were like 16 made for the 1976 film.I’m no expert but in looking at the DS pistol from Logan’s Run… it looks like the TV version and not the film version.
Switch moved to back of grip, different trigger and three colored dots on top.
Were new pistols created for the tv show or did they modify the film pistols?
