Green Lantern film footage first look?

Suit looks way better than it did in that ONE pic we saw on the cover of the magazine, but it STILL looks like some low rent CGI from that trailer. Still, it could just be the quality of the flash, or not the final version. Still, nice that the suit looks more green than the first-look pics.

BIGGEST bummer in my mind is that is it Ryan Reynolds playing Ryan Reynolds as the Green Lantern. Kind of like how Seth Rogan is playing Seth Rogan as the Green Hornet. I was hoping that Ryan could have done a non Ryan Reynolds performance in this role, but then again, I suppose they didn't hire him because he acts like someone else.

Don't get me wrong, they'll get my 12 bucks.

I think it is too early to really comment. There was not enough footage or dialog to really form an opinion. Just be glad they are making this movie.

Personally, I think that last shot of the costume looks just a tad too goofy. Kinda bright green, but maybe its just the glow.

Hmm. Suit looks good. No so down with Ryan Reynolds' performance based on just the snippets there. Basically it seems like Ryan Reynolds being....Ryan Reynolds. Pretty much the same way he is in every movie. I dunno. "Van Wilder: Guardian of Sector 2814."

Looks like they are trying reallly hard to capture the fun and down to earth approach of Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark performance. The character is too "epic space opera" for that approach IMHO. I could be totally wrong though.

I'm hoping for the best all the same. They got my 12 bucks no matter what. A comic geek to the end.

I like what I am seeing so far. As stated earlier they got my money no matter what. 2011 is the year of the Lantern that is for sure.

Live action movie, Animated series and a animated movie.

Cant beat it

Hal strikes me as cocky, sure. But earnest and driven by a sense of duty, too. Reynolds is cocky, no question, but more in an "I'm a wiseass and I know I can get away with it" way. Less a daredevil ladies man, and I REALLY doubt that Reynolds can convey a sense of higher duty. There's a very serious side to Hal, including some real emotional turmoil that he only gradually resolves. I mean, can Reynolds really play regret-masked-by-risktaking? I'm not so sure.

I've stated my opinion about how the film might turn out so far in previous threads.

With that said, the only thing that perked me up in this clip was Kilowog. :thumbsup

Other than that, I'm still not really interested in this yet.
Some of the CGI in the clip didn't even look finished to me.

I'd really like to see a full trailer.

Maybe Killowog whips the poozer into shape and his performance changes from cocky daredevil with nothing to lose to a man with purpose and sense of duty...hopefully.

Yeah, I really like Ryan Reynolds generally speaking but I was hoping that they'd tone down his sense of humor for the movie so it wouldn't be as though Van Wilder were Green Lantern. It's not really looking so much like they did that though from that short clip.

I'm also hoping that I can blame the "CG" look of that stuff on the low resolution of that video... not that a Green Lantern movie can be done and NOT look "CG" to some extent in my opinion.

Knowing my lack of discerning taste when it comes to comic book movies, I'm sure I'll wind up liking it regardless.

You want to see Ryan Reynolds act, look up Definitely Maybe.

A little known romantic comedy I thought was outstanding, especially Ryan.
