this is just a fun project to make the ring from blackest night givaways more Ivan Reis accurate. essentially just dropping down the height of the ring topper and making it more flush. its not perfect but its a nice little mod tomake them less cumbersome and more unique for your costume.
1) exacto knife gently slice around the topper seam. its not fully thick so you can pop it right off will littel damage to the ring itself. then pull out of the topper the plastic ring to thin out what you need to dremel down. then dremel to your liking. you can also carve into the ring base to completely drop and set it into it. but its up to you.
2) big ol batch of adhesive in the center, be it hot glue or e1000 or w/e and let it sit. fill ur divits if any.
3) prime and repaint to your liking.
4) enjoy, i like to drop in a little jewel from a craft store to make the ring seem more of a holder and the power comes from a piece of OA, but thats again a preference.
Also any ideas beyond casting the ring on how to enclose teh bottom into a full ring, im up for suggestions? i hate carving into a cast or really casting in general.
