Greatest, and Coolest Movie Endings

Dr. Strangelove
Escape from LA
Planet Of The Apes (the original not the turd remake though it was closer to the book)
Terminator 3. The movie was bad but I wasn't expecting THAT ending.

How 'bout the shock ending of Carrie?

Perhaps too obvious, but the ending of Jaws is like a big deep exhale. "whew!"

How come no one talks about E.T. - The Extra Terrestrial anymore? Not a dry eye in the house when that one wraps.

I always feel so happy at the end of Star Trek IV the Voyage Home.

Yeah Voyage home was a surprise after the trial. I still get goosebumps when they come over the Excelsior and see the new Enterprise. Actually that's the best part of the movie. The end of Beneath The Planet Of The Apes was a shock too, not as big as the first one though.

I guess I'll list The Wrestler. The guy has nothing left, and despite the fact his lifestyle has done major physical harm to him, he did what he loved doing.

Yet another vote for Planet of the Apes. When I first saw it my jaw didn't come off the floor for a good hour.

Empire Strikes Back. Recently watched this for the first time with my 4 year old and he denied that Vader was Luke's father for weeks.

Das Boot. Another one were my jaw was on the floor for a very long time. AWESOME ending to and awesome film.

John Carpenter's Halloween

John Carpenter's Escape from New York

Stanley Kubrick's A Clockwork Orange

The Descent (the original ending, not the U.S. cut)

Mulholland Drive

Basic Instinct

Clue: The Movie (the Mr. Green in the Hallway with the Revolver ending)

Way of the Gun

Vanilla Sky

A Nightmare on Elm Street

I forgot about Clue. The is an underrated movie. Never saw Clockwork orange. I love movies that lead you in a direction and you get a less than happy ending (t3, the first 2 Planet of the apes that kinda thing).

Aliens
Night of the living dead (b&w).
POTA
Predator, P2, and Predators (Long Tall Sally - the song always makes me smile)

I'll have to 2nd the Wrestler. Great job by Rourke. And i'll have to go 'old school" and say "Cool Hand Luke" and "Butch Cassidy & Sundance"

Cop with James Woods

The First Phantasm Movie

Night of the Living Dead (Original BW)

Poltergeist, after all that, that damn TV would have wound up in the Pool

And the Ending to A Clockwork Orange is all wrong if you ever read the book with the Missing American edition 21st chapter.

I believe I've written these before, but I'll write 'em again;

"Return of the Jedi" - Vader Saves Luke.

"The Iron Giant" - Tears of sorrow to tears of joy in two minutes flat, all without feeling the slightest bit contrived.

"Gladiator" - Maximus goes home.

all good movies, APES, SUSPECTS for sure... add Citizen Kane, Blade Runner-Directors/Final Cut, Godfather , 2001 to the list ....
