Graflex Question

Hello all! I'll be finishing up my ANH Luke saber soon and I noticed that the thumb-release clamp at the top that would normally hold the flash bulb assembly seems to wobble back and forth a lot. Is this normal or it it broken? Is there anything out there (short of a drop of superglue in the hinge) that would keep it still?

You mean the rabbit ears?

Yeah I think thats what he is saying.

And YES thats how it should be.

You can either put a drop a superglue or solder on the pin that it is held in with. OR you can put a bit of black rubber or something on both sides of the ring. at the back of the ring down on the black part of the "emmiter" (what Ive done and you really cant notice it, it also keeps you from ruining the flash)

Never heard it called that but, in thinking about it, I believe the answer is yes.

They all wobble They're suposed to move. But if you don't want them to move, superglue or some other tacky substance should take care of things for you. Maybe a small amount of craft glue might do the trick.

Yup. Normal operation. I would just leave it, especially if its a display piece.

Yup,
The piece is riveted on and made to swivel a bit for ease of inserting the bulb. You may be comparing it to a Parks Graflex. Jeff put either a phillips head, or hex there so you could tighten it up and keep it from swiveling, which is a good idea, but inaccurate.

I left mine alone for years but everyone that held it always asked why it swiveled. It's a fun conversation piece explaining what the graflex really is, but for a lightsaber, it shouldn't swivel.
So I put a drop of superglue on the inside of the front tab. That stopped it real quick.
:lol

Cool. Glad I didn't get a broken one then. Thanks to all for the input. I like the black rubber insert idea.

Hey where exactly did you put that superglue haha? I'm in the same situation

there's a rod and pin that goes through the bent tabs of the tube where the rabbit ears are. I just centered the rabbit ears/bulb socket clamp and put a drop where the rod touches the tabs.
