anyone ever use those? i am tempted, they do have them in all colors, and they cost 3 bucks a can, compared to duplicolor which goes from 7 bucks up.

but i dont know how good they are. you probably wont need primer, as its supposed to stick very well to any surface, but i am guessing its a matte finish, instead of a shiny one.

any experience would help me, im allmost finished with my iron man suit, and the cheaper i can go, the better XD

At $3 a can I would just pick one up and experiment on a piece of scrap foam.

I've personally used Montana Gold, Montana Black, and Montana 94. Personally I'd go for the low pressure cans (Montana 94 or Gold) if possible, high pressure means HIGH PRESSURE. Low pressure will give you the ability to do even coats that you can build up. I've used them on painting x-box controllers, gaming systems, canvas, wood, etc.

yes, but i you have to turn a penny around 3 times before you spend it, because youre a poor student, 3 bucks spent is a lot of money, if you cant use it xD
i will probably do it eventually, if noone has any experience

Being in Austria I'm assuming you have access to Montana Gold (which is german made) and Montana 94 (which is spanish made) both are great, I'm jealous you can get them for $3 a can. Even ordering online the cheapest I get it here in the states is about $6-7 bucks a can (and I have well over 150 cans just about in every color).

Ah okay, I've never personally worked with Molotow with it being high pressure cans. If my buddy pops on soon, I'll ask him I know that's all he uses.

im not even sure if those are the right cans, i vaguely remember this being them, i dont know how it dropped out of my head what exact brands they were...

From my little experience to graffiti I can tell you that molotow belton are te best cans for details, so that's what are you searching for.But be careful, you have to choose the right caps in order to avoid the drips of the spray can on your model... But as Jacob said, you can try Montana gold as well! They are pretty good for painting too. Hope that helps...

Yeah I talked to my buddy and he said Molotow or Spanish Montana 94 is the way to go. So if you can pick it up for $3 a can, you'd be crazy not to.

well, good to know :D i knew i could allways rely on the rpf ;) now, to paint the iron man.

with that can price, i might even just skip the pva glue step, and use more paint :D

EOS,

Don't skip the PVA, directly spray paint the foam is not a good idea.
The paint will soaked in, the surface is not gonna be nice, adding paint is take more energy, time and budget.
I did that, and very well regret it.

PVA is cheap enough. or you can always heat the foam until it has shinny/metalic surface. By then, the pores are closed.

pva is not cheap here :D 1 liter is 10 bucks, waterproof is 12 bucks. euros that is.

i dont know how much i would need for a whole suit. but the suit should also be finished till friday xD

Try roof sealer, SIKA/No Drop something like that. It should be on hardware store. That's should be cheap. Look for something that can be diluted with water. 1 kg should be enough for the whole suit.

Or at least heat it up. I don't have heat gun, so I use stove. Some people use flat iron (but I suggest fabric as liner)

well, i checked today, and the paints are 3.95 for the molotov ones, and 4 bucks straight for the montana gold

now i just have to figure out what would be the right color for iron man :D

Nice to know. I have some Montana Gold laying in the boxes. I never got disappointed by using them, but a big graffiti piece emptied them a whole lot... hahaha. They're around 4-5 Euro's here.

ok, well this gives me the info that i can use them

now, for the final question on this topic:
do i need to use primer with graffiti paints, or do they just go on? i was wondering this, as im pretty sure, people who do graffiti, dont prime their walls first :D

Well as IMIM2 said, use PVA or similar to coat the piece before painting. But otherwise you shouldn't need a primer, I've never used a primer with those.
