Goonies 25th anniv. celebration pictures

:eek:eek

"According to Sean Astin, who played Goonies leader "Mikey" Walsh, he was allowed to keep the treasure map used in the film. Several years later his mother discovered it, thought it was just a crinkled piece of paper, and threw it in the trash."

I personally hate the movie, but it is nice to see that some of the actors came out for the event. The area looks really nice too. It reminds me of what Cleveland does for the Christmas story house.

Even worst then the map story is this...

"The pirate ship at the end of the film was entirely real. All the shots were filmed in the ship. After the film, it was offered to anyone who would take it. No one wanted it, so the ship was scrapped."
:cry

Is it really wrong in such instances to beat your mother?

I'm one of the original members on the Goonies.org (screen name Barbossa). I couldn't go because of unemployment reasons. Here's hoping the folks in Astoria put on a 30th anniversary celebration. There was a smaller event for the 20th five years ago. Some of the actors showed up then too. I couldn't go as I was still in college.

Not here in the South!

Correct, but your Mother isn't legally considered your wife, well...depending what part of the South one lives in, that is.
But I guess you could talk your dad in to getting in a couple solid whacks for you.

Just make sure the switch is no larger than his thumb...hence the saying, Rule of Thumb.

We live just a short 4-hour drive away from Astoria/Canon Beach. My Wife and I were definitely going to go for this, but since Astin and pretty much most all the other Goonies weren't there (but 2) and the lack of other cast/crew, plus the dismal list of activities and events we took our pre-scheduled time off and instead went to Oahu, Hawaii for 5 days.

Much more well worth it IMO. Would have been really REALLY great to go to the Goonies event, but for a 25th Anniversary that was a pretty weak looking event plan w/guests.
:thumbsdown

Don't get me wrong, love Chunk and Mouth, but that's not enough to take 5 days off work. Plus I've visited some of the shooting spots already. Very awesome to see that stuff in person and without so many people along.

Really!!!

Oahu will always be there. You missed something unique.

Events like that are what YOU make of them.
