Good Way to Recolor Suede?

I need to know if there is a good product to dye suede a different color (or to strip the current color off and add a new color).

I have a pair of suede moccasins that are a light brown color, and I'd like to make them a gray to match a costume I am working on. I tried some shoe polish and it lightens the brown but also leaves the suede very matted. I imagine regular paints would have the same effect. Any way to do it and retain the suede texture?

There are special dye colors for suede leather. As if you wouldn´t have guessed :p
Since I am in Germany, I can only guess that the leather stores like Tandy carry those dyes. But I think that is a good guess, since many of the Tandy leather tools and sometimes dyes too are sold in my local shop ;)
