Glue not holding up

So i wore my foam DOJ armor last night at a house party and the glue didn't seem to hold well. I read that the inside of the foam needs to be sanded smooth or else the glue would not hold. Is this true and more than likely my problem?

What was it glued to?

What kind of glue did you use?

hot glue and gluing it to eva floor mats. gluing Velcro to the inside of the floor mats. this is what the inside looks like

glue the Velcro to cardboard at least twice the size of the Velcro strip, then hot glue the cardboard to the foam.

You have to remove that burnt layer (dremel or sand it out) on the inside before gluing on it

I'd recommend not using hot glue.

I used 3M Adheasive Spray and the foam never came off. Four years later it's still attached.

When you do glue the foam down, make sure to wrap gladwrap over the top to really hold it in place.

Or evo do a really good contact cement in a little tube

For gluing velcro to the foam, I always used super glue gel. I've tried hot glue, that just peels right back off. I've tried contact cement, it works but sometimes it will peel. Super glue gel gives me the best results.
