GlennTech's New Iron Man MK VI build: Pre-order repulsors now!

Me again,

It has been a long time ago since I appeared here again. Had no time due to school. As many of you I spotted the Mark 7. Damn... it's ugly... did they lost inspiration? I don't know how you guys think about it, but I stay with my sweet Mark 6 maybe later on a Mark 5 chest.

I went with the my templates and STEALTH's templates. Done most of my upper body now. Helmet is in paper stage, fiberglassing would be for next week or so...

Test Fit

I'm planning to make only the upper body for now, maybe I make the lower body aswell.
Paint colors: Everything what's original red would be blue (which kind of blue, I don't know yet), everything what's original gold will be gunmetal color (dark greyish).

Going to put a lot of electronics in it. But my package full of components is in delay...

as much as i despise all those IM builds at the moment, i still love to see them come together. i even caved and started a helmet myself too, even tho i promised myself, not to do it but then i thought, that was the sole reason i came here a year ago, to build an iron man suit

anyways, your build so far is awesome, alltho i would hotglue the facemask and chin to the rest of the helmet. its way easier to resin, and then cut them off after that. because once the resin is dry it stays in shape. but its hard to get it into shape with just taping it on
whats the foam thickness, and how did you cut those groves on the chestplate? something hot?

also, youre from belgium which isnt that far away, so i have to ask, where you got the foam. kinda hard to come by.

all in all, its very clean work, great lines, no glue stains, so, keep going.

It's glued with hot glue together a big outdated picture . Still thanks for the tip.

only camping mat i could find so far (and ive been in every shop in around a 5 km radius) is 15 mm and costs 14 bucks. bit pricy :/

Check camping stores, fitness stores, DIY stores,... I'd also big trouble finding them. 15 mm is a no go. I think 7 mm is on the edge of useable.

i know that some hardware stores have the puzzle tiles, but they are 1cm in thickness, thats why i didnt buy them. may have to resort to those still, unless i order plastazote from germany or the uk

Buy 1 pack of puzzle tiles and try to make an armor piece. For example the forearm. If that works out and you haven't got any other alternative then keep using the tiles . Haven't got any other advice ready atm..

yeah problem is those arent quite cheap either 4 tiles are 15 euros, so the same as the camping mat. im not in a hurry, so i might find something else sooner or later costume needs to be finished by the end of august, i have the helmet pepped which is the hardest part

Foamtiles.com has them on sale occasionally and they offer free shipping. I've found the tiles at Lowe's ($20 for a 4 pack) and other people find them at Harbor Freight (someone else said $10 for a 4 pack). The price really varies all around.

Some progress on the electronics. Prototype PCB's are almost completely made. But I've some components not in stock, still waiting for delivery.
I've got a repulsor controlled by flex sensors and helmet servo, light driver.
