Here are some swords I have made. I just finished up the Arena sword Max uses to fight Tigris and Commodus.
The Three swords used by Maximus:

General--"What we do in life eco's in eternity!"
Slave--"are you not entertained??!!"
Savior of Rome---"Today I saw a slave become more powerful than the Emperor of Rome."

The Gerneral sword is wood and metal. The others are made with resin and some brass details. The Final sword is all resin currently.

Thanks for looking.

NICE!
Where did You get those handles from? Are they cast from original Handles?

The balls and guards are cast off originals. the hand grips are scratch made. The General is carved using a Ivory type materials to accurate measurments.
The Slave is one I turned and then leather wrapped.
And the Savior is the Fac. X Maximus grip that i filled in the details. it was shaped pretty close the the original one so i used it.
I had some screen used brass to work from and other details I had to sculpt.
I never thought the Fac. X version was very good or really accurate. The ball on the end should have a groove in it for one thing.
I just need to get some costumes to display these with now. :)

Thanks
Steve

Those swords are EXCELLENT, especially the 'General's sword' (my favorite from that film). :thumbsup :thumbsup

:lol
You guys should see Steve's garage. It looks like a freakin' armory!

Awesome swords, dude. Kudos. :D

Some questions though: Why does it look like the orientation of the brass piece on the "Slave" sword guard is inverted? The screen grab from the film you posted is grainy, but it looks like the two hook-like structures curl toward the blade, not away from it. Was that a pre-production error on that particular stunt sword?

I love that costume!! you really pull it off great. Is that MPP armor? Who did the helmet? (metal or glass?)

As far as the slave sword detail... the picture is the stunt sword and they actually curve the correct way towards the ball but it is panted on but very badly. A friend of mine owns the blood letting version which has the same painted detail but has no groove in the lower hilt and has the pompeii style blade. So there were veriations between the stunt and hero but and this fight was very quick so you can't see them well.
I went for the Hero version which has the leaf shaped blade and grooved hilt.

you can see the groove in this pic.

Yes, it is MPP armor.. Got the helmet from Museum Replicas and Matt painted it and added the wolf emblem so it matched the armor.. He is making me a new set of gauntlets at the moment because my other ones were too tight..

He should also be sending my Leonidas helmet this week.. (fingers crossed):love

Thanks for the compliments..:$
