Gillman sculpt from Monster squad

Hi Everyone!

This is my final project for my college course.
When we were given free reign to make whatever we wanted, I just had to sculpt one of my favourite movie monsters from my childhood.

It's not meant to be a dead on replication but more my take on the creature.

This is intended to be cast in silicone to produce a bust for the courses end of year show and hopefully it'll be made into an articulated mask when time and budget allows in the near future.

I've got quite a bit of work to do until it'll be at a stage where I'm happy enough to call it finished and mould the beast but its getting there :)

Thanks digital509!

Here's a more up to date pic, Ive completed most of the scale work, done a lot of smoothing and blending.
I also sculpted and cast the teeth in a clear urethane.

There's a bit of work to be done on the back, some refining to do and the fins have yet to be sculpted but It's almost there,

Unfortunately I don't have a pic of the back of the head, I keep getting too wrapped up with sculpting and forget to take them :rolleyes

Here's where I'm up to so far, the skin has been cast and trimmed.
I have a little bit of patching to do then I'll be ready to add the fins and paint :)

Absolutely love The Monster Squad, Gillman is a flawless design. I don't think even today, it would be bettered, your sculpt is fantastic.

Thanks guys.

I agree, the original design was phenomenal!
It's a shame he didn't get much screen time.

Heres the finished display bust minus his base.
Sorry about the amount of pics, I found it difficult to photograph the colors and patterning correctly!

I'm think of building a shipping crate for the head to burst out of, weathered to look as if its had a dunk in the swamp, and maybe a twinkie hidden somewhere ;)

I hadn't really thought about doing a run but I have a set of molds sitting there so I might look into it!

Looks great. Excellent paint job.

I like the crate idea, as an alternative, perhaps a sewer grate? That's how he gets to the town square after all in the movies climax?

Here's the display base so far!
Unfortunately I don't have the time for anything more elaborate, so I threw this together between other jobs.
It'll also double as protection for my work to be taken to London in order to display at the New Blades recruitment fair.
