Gift to a friend, 1/48 modified Fine Molds X-Wing .

Nicely done! Love the details.

I really like the display, it's very proffesional.
Finding ways to display models is hard though, mine are currently sitting under towels as dust covers until I come up with a cabinet.

When I was painting some WWII aircraft I saw quite a few guys simply stick them to the wall. Was kind of cool.

Cheers,
Josh
Thank you for the compliment, I dont keep my models. I have always given away to friends that cant afford a custom built models . Just like my friend Terry , that this X-Wing given to .Terry's whole family is into Star Wars , even the grand kids .So this was is like their show piece. That the grandkids stare at ! And knowing that they all enjoy it make me fell good !

Airplanes on the wall sound cool , might look even better with a cloud background.

Nice job Duaine!

It's definitely good to do things for others and I did a few aircraft I gifted away myself.
On the two topics of gifts and displays, here:

I built a B17 Memphis Belle as a gift for my Grandfather. I mounted it on a frame with a photo of a war time city being bombed underneath and the assembley is hung on the wall.
I can see a similar display with an Xwing doing a trench run perhaps? Could even be done in some level of 3 dimensions for the trench.

And this was a diorama I gave to my Father... liked P51s

Just more inspiration for how to display something.

Cheers,
Josh

Josh ,
I read thread you did on the At-At build . I am glad that you mentioned it, as I have the same kit. I have a 3d printed At-At head , I had 3d Falcon do it for me .And I got the chin guns from shape way. And I already had the 1/48 guns and gun shield .As I used to build ww2 vehicles and armor ect. So I have tons of photo etched and spare parts .But there were things that I was concerned about, but you tackled them. But one thing that I noticed, on the sides of the At-At the square looking window thing that are at the top and lower portion of the sides of the revell kit . Well they should have been the part on the gun where the ammo magazine go into the the the gun.The1/48 flak gun kit has then separated , and that is what is used .You're At-At build looks great !

Thanks mate,
The AtAt is the most enjoyable project I've done to date and seems to be a subject that really gets people talking. Some of the 3d prints are superb now but there is definetely a great challenge in modifying that kit. Mine wasn't perfect but it got most of the way there.
I'm sure the 3d printed head will be superior!

The one thing I did notice was that the set of 3 main filming model walkers all had differences to their accessories, different cheek guns etc.
I did my best to copy the walker that Wedge harpoons as that was the diorama purpose.

It's actually back on my workbench this week to go back over the streaking and finalise painting.

I hope to see a build thread on yours!

Cheers,
Josh
