I wanted to create a "belt hanger" prop that I could wear while ice skating as a Ghostbuster (yeah, probably best not to think about that too much
The handle has a wire coat hanger embedded in it to keep its shape and help support weight when holding the prop. The build took a couple of days, about 4 hours total. Some of my angles are a little wonky, but overall very happy with my "belt hanger" turned out.
Pics!
Basic shape using EVA and craft foam, Looks like a preschool toy
Handle added and started working on the side details
Make a knob and rods out of rectangular foam? Sure, why not?
Button and sprocket head screws were created with a hole punch
Yup, the heat sink, resistor and knob are all made from EVA foam
These knobs were a bear -I kept gluing craft foam to my fingers
Mmmmm, primer.
Doors masked/taped and first coat of flat black added
Masking off the trap before applying metallic paint
Yeah! very little clean up need for overspray. I think the silver looks good.
Touchup paint and weathering done. Hit all the parts with a black wash to age down the piece and applied the decals. The indicator is a rubber furniture pad painted red.
I'm not loving the heat sink and resister and may redo them, but otherwise I think this prop is finished and ready for the show.
