Hey gang,

I need your help. I'm looking to make a close as possible to movie accurate Ghostbusters 1 costume. I've found a guy who makes the proton packs, though it's going to take months to make it apparently and is going to cost me $2,400. Could someone tell me what a proton pack with Hyperdyne electronics goes for? I'd just like to get a few other opinions. I'm pretty much looking for the whole costume from outfit to pack to goggles to traps, etc... Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Pretty much looking for this level of proton pack. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EpZrzPRPNCs

And yes, I am also a REAL TAPS investigator. LOL! We love the movie too!

Join Gbfans.com, or proptopia...that's a good start.

My 2nd pack I bought from Ken Hugel himself, (along with venkman71 they're the best)
The pack came with full lights and extending barrel...and it's measurements came off the real screen used pack ken bought.
I added sound and with all that it still only cost me $1500. $2,400 sounds really steep to me...if you intend on spending that kind of money outbid someone on ebay. You probably spend ALOT less

you seek Exoray, he's collected pretty much everything there is to be screen accurate and can give you a good idea of what it will cost you. I'd say $2400 is about $1000 too much for just a pack, you should be able to peice together a full top-notch suit plus all the extras for about that much.

Thanks for the info gang. I just went and PM'd the guy on the 501st Legion forum about it. Looks like his proton pack makes a turn on and off sound, but I don't think it has a Hyperdyne system in it. But, I think it would be worth buying from him and having someone upgrade the sound sytem for me.

This is my pack. 95% SA GB1. I started with a pack shell and built up. My cost is around $850 - $950. It also have full pack/gun lights and sound from Exoray.

Cool, glad you found something that might work. Funny I saw that ad only a few minutes before I saw your post - karma, or perhaps ghostly spirits at work? :lol

His proton pack does look pretty sweet and the costume comes with all types of extras. I think if the pack could be upgraded with the good light and sounds then I will probably go for it. Assuming he takes credit cards!

I've sold packs anywhere from $1200 to $4000. Time of year plays a big factor in it, of course, but materials and screen-accuracy play a bigger part. A screen-accurate pack will cost you over a thousand to make yourself! Add a builder's time to that if you're purchasing one. The more aluminum or electronics you work into that prop, the higher the price goes from there.

If you're happy with a "pretty accurate" pack with electronics, you can certainly get one for less than you're talking. If you're looking at a super-detailed (and correctly-detailed), 2500-3000 would seem about right.

Of course, there are still some details of the GB1 hero packs that have yet to show up on anyone's replicas. Knowing this has prompted me to build my seventh pack. You should consider researching and building one! Less expensive, for sure, and it's the most fun project in this hobby!

Whatever route you decide to go, good luck!

Bubba, the guy from the 501st Legion forum posted today on his thread that the costume is no longer available, but never bothered to PM me back. Gaaahhhh!!! That sucks! I was hoping to get his pack and upgrade the sounds and lights. Crap!:unsure

Oh hey! You're here. hahaha. Well I'm here too - no need to email me directly from youtube...you could always just PM me here.

But yea - like the people have told you here - try and check out gbfans.com and other websites that were posted on this thread.

sorry you missed out on that proton pack - it looked quite nice. They'll be more coming on ebay and whatnot now that halloween is coming up. Lots of proton packs good or bad show up around this time and closer to halloween.

Just go to gbfans to get some reference pictures for comparison to make sure what you're getting meets with your approval and level of screen accuracy.

Well, just bought a real nice proton pack off of a guy on eBay for $1,500 and it came with the Exoray light system, but no sound. I plan to get the Exoray sound to go with it, but don't have a clue. Hopefully in the next few weeks you can all bring me up to date on what the heck I'm doing. LOL!

i'm pretty sure that exoray isn't offering sound kits at this time. there is an RPFer that is offering a fantastic little sound module kit for proton packs, though... i'm about to pick up one, myself.

i'd love to see pics of your pack!

Well the pack I bought already has an Exoray light system, so I assume it would be best if I beg and plead with Exoray to get me the sound to go with it. A few people have told me his system is plug and go, so no BS. I like that.

You won't have to beg and plead for the kit. It will be out in due time. He is currently making revisions to his original board to work out some of the glitches people were having.

I would suggest keeping an eye open at GBFANS, that's likely where he will post his updates on the sound board first.

Oh and yea, its pretty simple to install the sound kit with his light kits. Did you get both the pack and the wand light kits?

Yep no begging and pleading it will happen, I have actually redesigned my original sound kit from the ground up... Right now I'm just trying to stay focused on getting outstanding pack shell orders out the door rather then releasing a new kit that will certainly add to the work load...

The new kit is for the most part done, I'm slowly ticking away at the PC board layout once again and it will probably have limited before Halloween release...
