Why does that feel like an ivan reitman change to me? not liking the idea that they would have to refer to ghostbusters 1984 as 'the ORIGINAL ghostbusters'

or anything BUT ghostbusters ?

I tend to enjoy a flick thats been ragged on. Because i hear all these bad things and when i watch it i am expecting a major disappointment. But not with batman Vs Superman. The bad things could not of been that easily fixed lol.

Hopefully I'll enjoy it.

I watched that vid about that leslie chick being hacked. Thats insane!!!

Agreed... I still haven't checked out Suicide Squad, but expecting the worst... so who knows?

I mean, I actually quite enjoyed "Prometheus", which EVERYONE I know HATED (and don't get me wrong, it is a huge clusterf**k, but an enjoyable one)

I enjoyed prometheus. I'm the same with Suicide Squad, I really enjoyed the trailer and was hoping for a good turn around for DC and then all of a sudden POW its getting slammed. I try not to read too much because i havent seen it.

I hope its half decent at least...

why would they?


the movies own plot painted them as frauds from the get go. their b usiness should never have taken off.

and from the look of it, if a sequel where to happen, that would continue. so it kind of defeats the purpous of even keeping the business open.
minus the few 'true believers' who'd probably risk calling anyway.

my brain hurts too much trying to think about logic in this thing :)

It's called "the suspension of disbelief". You have no problem with catching ghosts but the possibility that their business model isn't sustainable... Come on. I'm not defending the film, but most of this thread seems like you guys are looking for reasons to hate it. "How do I hate thee? Let me count the ways." This thread definitely needs to be locked.

We've established that the movie sucks. How much it sucks. Why it sucks. All the people who suck for making a movie that sucks. The movie sucks so much that it probably killed the franchise, has divided the fandom, and that sucks too. That about cover it? I think we're done here.
 
My question is will any other movies in the property do well even if they had Ivan at the helm? Sadly it takes only one film to put folks off everything in the property.

I'm not... but clearly some people are and yet they still stay.


this movie is still falling and failing pretty weirdly even up to dvd release date.

It's fun to watch it fail......

Not only that, but its super rare for studios to put up the money and finance another one, based on that risk. I still couldnt believe they gave the Incredible Hulk another go after Ang Lees Hulk sucked so badly.

It's not even about watching the movie fail. It's about watching everything that it represents fail, which is infinitely satisfying. This is much larger than a stupid ghostbusters movie. It's about the arrogance, hubris, disrespect and mean-spiritedness toward the original source material and those who loved it, not to mention that larger culture war agenda, which seems to have been more important to the makers than actually producing a good movie. To watch that all crash and burn in such grand fashion is nothing more than "hallelujah!" inducing. Good for them. They earned and deserve it.

I still believe Ghostbusters is a one-off movie. Not everything is a frickin' "property" to be beaten to death for the sake of a nerd circle-jerk. Ghostbusters was of its time and its success is due to THOSE guys. They ARE the Ghostbusters. Period. Done. End of sentence. Let there be no more. It's too late to bury it with dignity, but it should be let go.

Including that same 'How DARE you dislike something just because I like it' attitude that cause the rift to happen in the first place, and caused the so called 'haters' to make sure everyone knows how they feel ad nausea. 'You say I can't dislike this, but you can say you look forward to it? I'll show you!'


it is no amount of pleasure to see places like the FAcebook page totally break down into insanity and pretty much turning off everyone going to his page after he was driven to combativeness with the 'hateful negativity'.

I keep on going back to that one post they made in june... 'i just want to everyone to know I've chosen this month to enjoy up to release with no negativity'. and then how their style of posts changed after that bring a smile to my sad, sorry little life....and knowing that the other 'fans' like him (and I know a few) are experiencing the same let down that this movie brought them.....whether they want to admit it publicly or not after a year of championing it in a not so nice or logical way...... and it's a real shame, because i used to like and respect that site too.


it's a very weird world we live in these days where people will get joy out of hating on people for hating something they happen to like, and people experiencing joy at likers getting their hopes dashed for liking something that failed.. but, eh...here we are...

I will say this though. after seeing how the internet has 'evolved'.... simply for having opinions....i no longer need to, or no longer CAN feel the need to follow a movie production that closely ever again. i'm just going to enjoy it, or un enjoy it upon release and move on to the next. it's not worth it anymore.

perfect way to describe it. as he goes on to mention finding dory, R One, and star wars as better films starring women. so much for the hollywood isn't focusing on them argument...

I thought the character of patty was a racist stereo type before.. I didn't even NOTICE the 'Oh No He Didn'' belt. I mean, come on. even after all the other stereo typical stuff, no way you can defend it after that if you could defend it before.
