I can't believe this thread is still kicking with the same few people!
It makes me curious about a question I asked last month:

I ran out of things to say about this movie a long time ago. But since you asked, twice: My work is on the computer. Also I don't smoke anymore, so at break time I can either wander around for 10 minutes like a lost dog (which I actually do most of the time) or take 10 minutes to check messages, surf the web, glance at the news headlines to make sure nothing major exploded.

Also, depending on your settings, sometimes this forum notifies you when someone responds to something you wrote.

At the moment, lunch begins in 5 minutes. I finished my project 7 minutes ago. I could start a new one which would be pointless since I have a lunch meeting to go to in...3 minutes now. Or I can just surf the net for 5 minutes while I wait. And it looks like the GB thread is still going on...may as well peek in it...see if anything new. And...nope...just someone asking again why we have time in the day to check the boards :)

Hope that answers it.

I still have a minute and a half. And thats IF everyone else is actually on time for this thing...which has...never happened.

Slightly off-topic, but all of you GB fans that grew up watching the movies and cartoons--donate! Your fellow fan that hasn't had a great way to go needs your help.

If Neil, Goldenhawk, and Snikt all donate $50 per, I'll post my top complaints on the reboot. Screenshots dudes!

Wow, this is a lovely opportunity for this kiddo, and I applaud people for wanting to do something special for him, but the cynic in me has to wonder: why, if SONY is involved to the extent of granting behind-the-scenes tours and access to prop vehicles, why are they not footing the bill for this boy and his family to fly out? Seems to me, it would be a wonderful opportunity to get some positive press, plus a little bit of a tax deduction.

I'm not saying people shouldn't donate. It's just that there's a part of me that wonders what happens if this child DOESN'T raise the funds needed. It seems unnecessarily cruel for there to even be a possibility of this trip not happening when there's a mega-corp involved that could cover $6k with their proverbial pocket change.

I'm sure Sony/Ghost Corps will have donated quite a bit of money when all is said and done. It's my understanding that this is the business model of the FTW charity.

Whatever anti-Sony sentiments that are floating around here, use that negativity for a tiny bit of good and show this kid that you care. Did GB16 ruin your childhood? Help make this kid's childhood a little bit better. :) Did you make it a point to not give Sony your ticket money on GB16? Donate that ticket/parking/popcorn/soda/merch money to Braeden.

I actually DID see the movie, and am in the minority here in that I actually enjoyed it.

I want to thank you for bringing this up. I wasn't going to because i know i'd get ripped to shreds for even suggesting it.

But yeah, it does make you wonder why they don't just foot the bill themselves. they'd make 6K back in a few hours with playstation money earnings alone, and it WOULD give them
some much needed good will toward the brand. it also does make it seem kind of cruel if it doesn't happen. hopefully they did NOT tell the kid about this before hand.

What's interesting about this case, is apparently this has been done successfully with this kid before. although maybe not to this extent. a post on FB somewhere said he had his wish granted to become a ghostbuster a year or two ago. But I guess any distraction from dealing with something like that is a GOOD distraction.

That wasn't directed at you, more at the regular haters around these parts.

If people looked to large corporations to solely fund charities, individuals would never fork over any money. It's a good cause, ran by good people that deliver results-- in this case, a rare rad smile on the face of a kid going through a pretty bad time. I felt it deserved my donation, and I hope you guys feel the same, irregardless of the amount of money Sony is donating. :)

Oh, absolutely, if people have the ability to donate, it's worth plunking down a few dollars to make a kid's day a little brighter. My primary concern is what would happen if they, for some reason, didn't reach that goal they have set.

From what I understand from the Interdimensional Crossrip Podcast interview with the head honcho of the charity, the trip will happen irregardless of the gofundme reaching the goal. The crowdsourcing is a mix to help cover expenses of the video/photo shoot, post-production of Braeden's movie trailer and GB theatrical poster, as well as helping future projects with other kids in need of some positivity and happiness. :)

From the Gofundme page:
"Braeden's For The Win Project experience is set to take place at the end of August 2016. With your support, we can continue our mission of turning heroes into Heroes. It's very important for us to remind these children that they're incredible and heroic for the strength and determination they show each and every day. The experience we give them acts as a reminder of that. It increases hope, builds self esteem, and acts as a more accurate mirror for who these kids really are...Heroes!"

Also, the thing Neil mentioned earlier was a group of local fans visiting Braeden's birthday party in GB costume. To my knowledge, there hasn't been another crowdsourced fundraiser.

Wait an minute. Sony can pay for the airfares and hotels for over 100 Ghostheads to show up at Ghost Corps the day before the reboot trailer is released earlier this May. Then they throw a party for the Ghostheads in LA for the reboot premiere. And now Sony can't step up and pay for this kid and his family to go out to Ghost Corps and the Sony Studios. So now it is up to us to pay for this trip? What the hell?! I guess there is no benefit for Sony to fly this kid and his family out for a visit. Or they are losing more than $75 million on Feigbusters and are now in cost cutting mode.

But not to be a jerk or anything, my franchise and I already donate money a week or so ago. But Osborn, we really do not need to hear your complaints about Feigbusters. Everything and anything wrong about that dumpster fire has already been covered, discussed or beaten to death well before July 11.

I guess you didn't read my above post. Braeden and his family are going. We don't know what Sony has/hasn't provided financial compensation for to the charity (none of our biz anyway), but if FTW simply said, "It's okay, Sony is footing the bill", then they wouldn't have the financial support from fans and the general pop.

Great, I'm glad you donated!

I figured the star haters would want to hear the complaints of someone that enjoyed it, but eh... no worries! I guess it really is more about endless complaining and less about actual discussion. :rolleyes

still, you have to admit, it IS fun to watch this movie crash and burn even AFTER it's crashed and burned :).
The funny part is that about 300,000 of those dislikes on YouTube happened after Feigbusters came out in the theaters. So some of these people were expressing their displeasure with the movie by giving down votes.

Which is WAY more productive than whining on a message board about it. :D

Holding out hope for a Holtzman and Tolan spinoff where they're traveling to other dimensions for research or something. Sort of an inter-dimensional Lethal Weapon or something.
