Yes, but some Ghostheads will argue with anyone that their fandom is as big as the other fandoms. SW, Marvel, DC, etc.
Being one of those that dress up with my franchise, I can pretty much say first hand that the GB fandom is not as big as SW, Marvel and DC. At the largest Halloween Event in our area, the number of the 501st and RL and their fans easily make us look like second place finishers......far behind second place finishers.
I wasn't disagreeing with you that some ghost heads think that they are as big as star wars..
I'm just saying that the pro people use both sides of the argument to try and help their cause.
'You can't compare it to star wars, it's not the same type of movie..'
'You can't compare it to F4. our fan base is far bigger'..
;o)
What I do find surprising is, is if this movie IS making this much because of repeated viewings from die hard ghostbuster fans...it probably would have made only $30 million like it did over seas.

It is interesting that a film based on something that was a big hit in America before there were these big international distribution networks now needs an international market to bail it out.
I just find it sad that the us market means so little to hollywood these days, they suck up to places like china, and happily take their money to fund things that they should easily be able to fund on their own. seeing a chinese( think it was chinese, since they funded the film) distribution logo in front of star trek was kind of depressing.
With that article posted above, I wonder just how 'good' a shape sony pictures is actually in.
