Any Hollywood guys here on the forum? I was just invited to the DGA for an evening with George Lucas and Chris Nolan. I am told Nolan will interview Lucas. I am so geeked out about this one. I cannot wait!

The only problem is that I am working that day and can only hope to be finished in time to make the event.

From Variety:
The DGA will also launch a film tribute series on Feb. 19 with Christopher Nolan interviewing George Lucas about "Star Wars." At subsequent events, Eastwood will honor John Ford for "Stagecoach," Steven Soderbergh will laud John Cassavetes for "Faces" and Ridley Scott will expound on "Blade Runner" in London.

Please God don't let Nolan ask the name of the planet Qui-gon Jinn was born on. It's just going to be called ChriNol or Christnolan .... :)

I went to an Evening with George Lucas at the DGA a few years ago. Make sure you bring something for George to sign AND a camera. He signed autographs after the event. Not sure if he will this time but bring something just in case!!! And if you can't make it CALL ME!!!!!!

What day is and how can I go???

why dont you just take the day off ? i wouldnt miss the chance to see one of the greatest directors that ever lived............and the other director is george lucas which is cool too...he did create star wars.

i'm in oc.....need a date ;)

Thanks for the advice Brad. I will surely look for something worth having him sign. I went to the Cinerama Dome a few years ago and saw Empire with Irvin Kershner hosting a Q&A after. All I had that was small enough to tote was the theatrical release of Empire on laser disc. He signed it after the event. I know in a couple year people aren't even going to know what a laser disc is.

Anyway, I am a producer and not in the DGA. I was invited by a friend in the guild. Otherwise I would surely pass on the seat if I could not make it.

I'm in production and you can't take a day off in my business. Sadly. I will do everything in my power to make this event but there are always variables outside of our control.

Like the art department grabbing all the money and running amok with it :lol But hey, how long is that lecture? I fully understand, but I still kick myself because of a similar reason I did not get to see Ken Adam (production designer of a lot of Bond movies). But GL and CN are still young, there probably will be a few more opportunities to meet them.

Happy Birthday to me! The interview was awesome and I got Lucas to autograph The Making of Star Wars afterward. I am so psyched right now! Lucas called Nolan over to see the book when he was autographing it. He said "This is the book you should have." or something like that. Nolan said he wanted that one and the Empire version. I was so geeked out.
