Gary Kurtz on George Lucas

People people people... MicDavis is ALWAYS right and everyone else is always wrong, unless they agree with him. Hm, if he disagrees with this then he's not always right, and everyone else isn't always wrong. Hm. Then that would make me wrong. Ah, it's a twisted web.
 
I'm still interested in an alternative follow up to Empire. Not sure I understand what the ending Kurtz described was trying to accomplish having Leia "grappling with her new duties" and having Luke wander off into the sunset by himself unsatisfied. Is this Star Wars or No Country for Old Men?

I'm still interested in knowing who that "there is another" hope is that Yoda was talking about, cause at the time I'm sure they didn't have anything set in stone. Not having Luke and Leia be sisters would have been nice. We're in a big galaxy, not "it's a small world after all".

Anyways, after Episode III's death by broken heart, I gave up my status of Star Wars fan and until something really unique happens, I'm just not interested in any of it. Clone Wars, even if it has some really great stories, still does nothing for me in the long run. I'm just done with it.

i remember having a count down to the minute when phantom menace came out, i cant remember the last time i was so angry about something i loved.
 
I have serious issues with Jedi, but the fact that it has a happy, fairy tale ending is not one of them. I mean, when a story begins with the phrase A Long Time Ago In A Galaxy Far, Far Away, you pretty much know it's not going to end on an edgy, somber, angst-ridden note. Nor should it, IMO.

I may not be thrilled with the way the happy ending was executed, but the notion of Leia being left to "grapple with her duties" seems somewhat out-of-tune given the PT's generally affable Saturday Matinee vibe.

Still, one can't help but wonder if a happy medium between the two endings might not have been arrived at had Kurtz and Marcia Lucas still had Lucas' ear.
 
I love when articles try to "correct" the laughable misconception that Lucas had the saga "All Planned Out" with a snippet that's equally if not more laughable in its ignorance and simplicity.
 
Like the article this thread is 'bout, The Secret History of Star Wars is definitely interesting, but poorly written.

Still, I recommend reading it.

Exactly my feelings. Great insofar as its factual content and draft comparisons, but embarrassingly composed.
 
It's funny because the author is guilty of almost exactly the same faults he assigns Lucas in the book.
