Gargantia & Attack on Titan: anyone watching?

As much as I love anime, the new stuff pales in comparison to what I grew up with. I've never understood the fascination with steampunk anyways... give me Ghost in the Shell, Patlabor, Appleseed, CowboyBebop,SerialExperiment.

Re: Gargantia & Attack on Titan: anyone watching?

Anybody know how many seasons of Attack on Titan they're planning? We're at 22 and a standard anime series is 26 and I don't see a whole lot being resolved in 4 episodes, unless they rush the ***** out of the last 4.

I have no idea but judging by the pacing I'd venture to say that we have at least one more season ahead of us, I hope. I think that it will depend entirely on the manga and just how much of the manga is out there/how far ahead the manga is. From what I've read the show has been following the manga pretty faithfully at a one for one ratio, meaning that each episode of the anime equates pretty much to one chapter/issue of the manga. So, depending on how much of the manga there is and how far ahead it is will likely determine how many more seasons we're likely to see and when we'll see them because if the manga is behind then that would definitely have an effect on the anime.

Have you been watching Attack on Titan? I'd say that it's easily on par with the best stuff from the 80s and the 90s. The animation is really well done and the story is really engaging, every episode totally leaves me wanting more and I'm always caught off guard by the end of the show since it feels like to me that I only just started watching by the time it ends.

I've watched several episodes at this point. It's okay, can't agree it's on par with the best stuff of the 90s as that was Cowboy Bebop, Mobile Suit Gundam, Neon Genesis territory. It's one of the better anime out this season I will admit... but that isn't saying much.

Wow, you have really high standards. You definitely need to watch more, the show only gets better as it goes on with a certain amount of intrigue that you never get in Cowboy Bebop or Evangelion.

What i find annoying is that they only put the series they know will get views on tv, so many well done shows go under the radar. I'm still amazed Ghost In the Shell made it to tv over here. I'm not the big anime fan i was because i don't have a good source around here of stuff other than the toonami and adult swim stuff.

Ya, i'm extremely picky when it comes to anime, lol. I can understand why you like it, it is definitely entertaining but it's missing something for me, It may simply boil down to a matter of preference. For instance I did enjoy Durarara!!, Baccano as well as Black Lagoon.

I'm surprised Attack on Titan made it to Anime it was a fairly mediocre Manga according to my cousins in Osaka.

Saw episode 22 a couple of days ago. And finally see Levi get in on the action. Dude is a beast and despite how good Mikasa is, it shows how much of a rookie she is compared to him.

Does anyone else think that AoT would make for a great game? Imagine trying to use maneuver gear in an FPS or even in from a 3rd person perspective? You'd probably have to do it using pre-programmed moves that you can activate with a push of a button or by doing a combination of buttons and controller moves but it would still be pretty cool and probably pretty dizzying from a first person perspective.

I'm always embarrassed when I see them try to effectively port anime to a video game...Ever played the Grappler Baki game? Or Fist of the North Star? HORRIBLE...

It would probably be set up like the Spiderman game I played on the PC years ago. You would just shoot webs and swing no matter where you were. You didn't have to actually aim them is what I'm getting at.

And like stated, it would probably be as awesome as some other anime to video games out there. Ever played the Evangelion one? Complete crap.

Granted that most game adaptations of TV shows or movies are total crape designed primarily to cash in on the popularity of the IP, I really think if done right AoT would really make for an awesome video game. Of course the odds are heavily against it but I am speaking largely hypothetically.

shingeki no kyojin a.k.a. attack on titan is top one on my favorite anime/manga as of now, gurren lagann is the 2nd. . .both are worth watching. . .

need to catch up attack on titan since i already read the manga up to chapter 49. . .

Season 1 is now done. Last few episodes really had the action cranked up. And because of how awesome I think the show is, I preordered the Nendoroid and Figma figures of Mikasa.

Good thing I have a backlog of shows (Gatchaman Crowds and Fate/Stay Night among a few) to watch while we wait for a season 2 announcement.

Since you are already talking about Shingeki no Kyojin, may I ask in which subforum should I put the 3D gear build (swords, blade holders and cable drum), RPF sometimes confuses me a bit.

You can always start a thread in the prop section or if you plan on doing the rest of the outfit (straps, jacket, pants, etc), it can go in the costume section. The 3D gear is on my future to do list as well as cosplaying as Levi or Eren so I'm looking forward to what you come up with and how you do it.
