Gargantia & Attack on Titan: anyone watching?

Anyone else here on Crunchyroll and watching Gargantia &/or Attack on Titan? These are definitely the best two anime shows this season and are probably better than most shows on TV right now.

From Wikipeida here's the basic plot of Gargantia:
In the distant future, mankind has taken to the stars and formed the Galactic Alliance of Humankind (人類銀河同盟 Jinrui Ginga Dōmei?). The Alliance is engaged in a perpetual war with a tentacled alien species known as the Hideauze (ヒディアーズ Hidiāzu?). 16-year-old Ensign Ledo is a soldier in the Galactic Alliance, piloting a Machine Caliber (マシンキャリバー Mashin Kyaribā?), an AI-automated, humanoid-shaped battle suit, which he refers to as 'Chamber'. After a failed attempt by the Alliance forces to destroy an enemy super-weapon, Ledo is knocked into a wormhole and loses consciousness. When he awakens, he learns from Chamber that he has been in cryo-stasis for 6 months while his wounds were healing. Ledo learns that he and Chamber have been 'found' by a rag-tag band of 'primitive' human scavengers. Ledo quickly discovers that he is on board a massive floating ship on an ocean-covered planet. Chamber tells him that local star charts reveal the planet is Earth, the birthplace of humanity, a place that members of the Alliance were only familiar with from stories and believed was a myth.

And the plot to Attack on Titan:
The series follows the story of Eren Jaeger, his adopted sister Mikasa Ackerman, and their friend Armin Arlart. After the outermost wall falls and Eren's mother dies in the resulting destruction, he vows revenge against the Titans and later enlists in the military, followed by his friends. Years later, during his first battle against the Titans, he discovers that he has the ability to transform into a Titan at will. Seen as a threat to mankind by some, and as a ray of hope by others, Eren joins his companions in a desperate fight to protect what remains of their society, while looking for answers to the mysteries surrounding the Titans, the Walls and his own existence as well.

If you're at all into anime both shows are definitely worth checking out, they're currently being simulcasted with Japan which means that US audiences actually get to see new episodes around the same time as they do in Japan. You can watch them for free on Crunchyroll although you will have to deal the occasional commercial, if you subscribe to Crunchyroll you can watch the episodes commercial free, in HD, and as soon as they come out every Sunday, non-members are delayed by a few days,

Knowing the talent on this site I'd love to see what people here could with making costumes from the shows, esp. Attack on Titans. The costume aren't too bad but there are some cool props that I know people here could do a really good job on, in particular the gear that the soldiers wear that allow them to swing about town on cables like Spiderman.

Just caught up on episode 9 of Attack On Titan the other day. I'm taking so many screenshots to get reference pics of the 3D maneuver gear in hopes of making my own. The show itself is a little slow at times but still enjoyable. Armin gets on my last nerves. Favorites are obviously, Mikasa and Sasha (potato girl). As for Gargantia, I haven't watched it as of yet but may start soon since I'm still catching up on Gurren Lagann and some other older shows (yes, I'm a little behind). But if you're looking for a really, really good new anime, you MUST watch The Devil Is A Part-Timer.

The 3D maneuver gear would be pretty sweet to make, it looks almost like it could be made from found parts although scratch building would probably result in a lighter build.

I've never heard of Crunchyroll.

THAT'S ****ING AWESOME!!!!!

New stuff being made available regularly!?!?!?

I'm so in.

And they have a Roku channel, so can watch it on TV, excellllent. :)

Both Crunchyroll and Funimation are both like this. Subscribers obviously get new episodes the day of airing. Excellent for catching up on older shows you may have missed.

Never saw Gurren Lagan.

Start watching now. On another note, there is a new show that I'm looking forward to. Not a Japanese anime as it's produced in the States. It's done in the style of cel-shading and you can obviously see the heavy influence from Japanese anime in the trailers. Show's called RWBY. Prepare for trailer spam:

There's already been a lot of cosplays and prop work done on Ruby (Red), Weiss (White), Blake (Black) and their weapons. Only a matter of time before stuff for Yang (Yellow) gets done as well as Adam (Black trailer).

I wish cartoon network would get stuff like this instead of Naruto and other crap. These are the types of anime that go under the radar and you only hear about from other fans or at cons.

It would be nice but I that most US network execs would crap their pants at the idea of showing stuff like Attack on Titan or Gargantia. Attack on Titan would probably have to be heavily edited to make it on US TV with all of the Titan eating humans and blood everywhere scenes and there's probably a bit too much fan service in Gargantia for most programming execs and would it would probably get a lot complaints from the prudes. Sword Art Online could probably be shown in the US without too much difficulty and Girls und Panzer might be ok too but there doesn't seem to be a market for decent animation on US TV right now.

Oh wow, the first episode of "Attack on Titan" was pretty brutal at the end.

It gets better and they really keep up with the brutality, the show really doesn't pull its punches. Just wait until you watch ep. 9, the show really gets interesting then.

Finished episode 8 last night, 9 I guess is locked for me. Does the new episode unlock after a couple days?

Yeah, it does. Subscribed members get to watch new episodes as soon as they're released, free members get to watch them a few days after but I don't recall how many. If it helps any, the new episodes air on Sunday, so check on Thursday to see if the new episode has been made available.

Sounds like you're hooked.

What is wrong with crunchy roll? I put in my CC info and it says the CC has already been used for a free trial. Then I try to login and I get a black screen on my PS3?

I know what's on my to do list...

I'm just fascinated by the world building and setup. Where did these Titans come from, what are they exactly, why is the 60 meter one seemingly sentient while the others seem to be running entirely on instinct? WHAT'S IN THE BASEMENT??

You are my hero. And I've been following your WIP's on the RWBY weapons for a couple of weeks as well. Your work on the Crescent Rose is ridiculously amazing and my main reference for when I start to make one for my friend who's going to be cosplaying as Ruby.
And speaking of RWBY, you wouldn't happen to have any reference pics for Adam's weapon, do you? :D
