Game of Thrones

Love the absolute **** outta this show! Lots of most excellent gore and blood spattered fun. In addition to that there is a weekly dosage of boobies! I believe HBO has discovered the formula for a prefect tv series. Game of Thrones = WINNING!

I'm also enjoying the Arya/Tywin interaction. He clearly knows she's faking her background but luckily for Arya doesn't suspect who she really is. This will probably end up being blamed on Cersei or Tyrion for not admitting they only had one Stark daughter captive.

I love watching Charles Dance. Been a fan of his since The Golden Child. :)
I'm still catching up on the books (still in the first book), so I haven't gotten this far yet. But I also like those scenes. I got the impression early on that Tywin may have known who she was, but that went away later on, especially when he was willing to leave her behind. He clearly knew she was noble-born, and right from the start. There's a moment where the two of them simply stare at each other, and Tywin's no fool.. no commoner could hold a high lord's gaze like she does, and repeatedly.

Your comment about Cersei does make me wonder whether she told Tywin that Arya escaped. I get the impression that Tyrion would have.. he's probably keeping Tywin up to date on what's happening in the city (after all, Tywin is the true Hand, Tyrion is merely standing in).

I do like Tywin in the show (I haven't met him in the book yet). He's hard, but he seems fair, and he's quite smart. And he doesn't take **** from anyone, even his own family. Tyrion's more a chip off the ol' block than Tywin would like to admit.

And, like you, I'm also a fan of Charles Dance, and I love seeing him in such a good role, and he plays it very well.

The Tywin/Arya scenes don't happen in the book. Roose Bolton is the one who controls Harranhal during that time. They've altered some stuff significantly in the second season from what I've seen (I don't have HBO, unfortunately :cry).

I'm about a third of the way through the fourth book and they're starting to delve more into Cersei and Jaime's motivations. Frankly, Jaime is fast joining Tyrion as one of my favorite characters because of what I've seen of him in this book. :)

I don't want to spoil anything for you so I'll stop here. Just don't get too enamored of how things are portrayed in the show. There are a lot of instances where that's now how it goes down in the books.

Yeah, Tywin was hardly at Harrenhal during Arya's time there. Don't worry, though. She still has a great storyline going on in the 2nd book.

While I cant wait to see tonight's episode because the Battle of the Blackwater is just so awesome in the book, I'm wondering how different the TV version will be. I don't want to spoil anything for people who haven't read the books, so I wont list all the things I don't think we're going to end up seeing. Its just so nerve racking (in a fun kind of way, though) not knowing whats going to happen!

Yeah, when some friends are discussing their favorite characters, I have to keep quiet about Jamie, lest they either question my morals or wonder about spoilers.

That said, I can't wait for the Bloody Mummers to show up, "just so I can hear him say 'Thapphireth." :)

Yeah, I know. My husband loves the series but is slowly working his way through the books (he's still on book one) and it's driving me nuts because I really, really want to talk to him about some of the things that are happening in my read through!

And oh, my god, Vargo.... That's going to be a HARD character to keep the menace of, but I'm also looking forward to seeing what they do with him!

Also a Charles Dance fan. As a matter a fact, just prior to watching seadon 1 I was wondering what heppened to him. He played some great villainous roles during the 80's and 90's.

It's great to see him on screen again....It seems Dance came back to the role of villain in full force and is giving his best performance ever.
