Galaxys Edge

I'm envious of WDW and you that have made the post-shutdown trip!

Here in California we're still waiting.

Here's a pic on Adventureland Day (1 March 2020). Little did we know that in less than two weeks the park would be closed.

Yeah so I voted Cal. Sure the market is flooded but its rare to see one with the explodey pomel. I think lukyanov is one of the few that accurately pulls it off so I am curious what Disney magic can do. Maybe they would even offer a separate connector?

But after seeing the luke ROTJ hero fat neck... I am certain the Ezra v2 would suffer the same fate so I'm glad thats not winning because I could hear the pissing and moaning already lol
Not sure if you're aware, but the Hero Luke comes with 2 interchangable emitters. One with a skinny neck for display, & one fat to accept a blade. I'm pretty sure the Ezra would be the same set up.

I can't speak for him but if he is of the same mind as me, you want the hilt look a certain way with the blade installed too. I do not collect much in the way of FX hilts but I would like a decent Luke Return of the Jedi FX saber. I am willing to trade off some accuracy for price but the fat neck is a issue for me. Now, if i just wanted it for display, I would be tempted but i already have something for that.

Now, if I was interested in a Ezra hilt, and not concerned with the FX blade, I would be up for it. I think a lot of people were more interested in the staple gun version. That would have been cool.

I think the Qui Gonn hilt will be nice if made but I sort of respect that if it is, they will have to fudge the slots in the grip section in order to deal with internals. I don't know that for a fact as i am not an expert on how the inside of Disney, or really any FX lightsabers are made.

Out of the Legacy hilts, the one I really want are the upcoming Ahsoka clone wars. I doubt they will be for sale on line. I have a nice set of static hilts but the design, the pictures of the products and my love of the character makes me want them.

It's not that I don't like the others, I simply either have exiting FX versions, static display versions, or not interested in that particular hilt. I would not mind the temple guard but with all the other unique products that GE has, I simply do not have the money to spend on everything I wanted and there are several other products I would rather have than Legacy sabers.

I'm super bummed Kanan's saber didn't do better in that poll. I really feel like it hits that cobbled together look of the OT more than the prequel/EU/video game sabers do. Hopefully it still comes up in the future.

Agreed on the new Ahsoka ones. We'll be going at Christmas (we were supposed to go in April but that was cancelled) to hopefully finally see Rise of the Resistance, and I think I may grab those.

MJF nailed it. I know there is a slim neck for display but I had fat neck MR sabers and dont want to make that mistake a 3rd time.

And HECK YES for ahsoka sabers!!!
That was SO COOL they let Ashley Eckstein premier those on Instagram.
And those are what give me hope tue Cal saber could be color changing... And maybe even a coupler for... You know ;)

If you have not checked it out yet, there are SOME Galaxy's Edge Park Exclusives listed on the shop website:

They appear to be releasing items for sale in categories. Currently this first wave is based on Jedi and Sith outfitting (tunics, robes, belts, clip/hooks). Mostly Jedi, generic sith, and Rey costumes, some Legacy hilts, blades, hilt stand, carry bags.

The next wave hinted at are items from the creature stall. At this point, I have no idea when this will be. Later today? Tomorrow? Next Monday?

Personally I am very let down. The current offerings were not of interest to me. Also, it takes $75 for free shipping. I was hoping to fill my cart and make a one time big purchase, now it looks like I may have to pay multiple shipping costs in different waves if there are only one or two items I want that do not meet the $75 limit.

I’m also pretty disappointed. I was on in the first five minutes, and all but one legacy saber was sold out. I don’t think they allocated many sabers for this event.

Anyone know if they’ll restock at some point?

Nevermind, it looks like they did have more of all but the Temple Guard. I picked up a Ventress legacy lightsaber.

I was on at 7am EST and got in the waiting area and was granted access to the GE merchandise page probably by 7:10am. The only item I was wanting to order is the Legacy Kylo Ren lightsaber, and it wasn't being shown at all as an option. I clicked around and tried different search terms and I couldn't seem to find it available for sale, so I closed the shopping window.

Soon all will be on ebay at double the price. I wonder how fast they will be able to restock all the Jedi costumes with Halloween coming up.

It's odd that certain items like the Darth Maul and Asajj Ventress Lightsaber Hilts that can be joined with another have a limit of one per guest.

I felt the same way. I wanted to get two, but couldn’t. I’m not too bummed about it, but it would have been nice to have the opportunity.

I just found out about this and how the webpage is setup, it appears all "New" items are in stock
So, its really annoying after I click a link, a certain item is sold out.
I would appreciate if Disney added a "Sold Out" image over the item.

I don't know nothing about Galaxy Edge, but for you guys who do
does GE restock items?

Galaxy Edge in the park does restock items. They are probably restocking the little satellite store the have in the CA Downtown Disney and the FL Disney Springs but both locations are there for a limited time.

I do not know if they plan to restock the different GE items on the website after they sell out. You have to remember that the only reason they have the items on the website and in the satellite locations is that due to the amount of time the CA and FL parks have been closed and the limited crowds allowed inside, they ended up with a back stock of items. Business 101 tells you that stock = $$$ on shelves and space = $$$. Now of course they want some back stock (although JIT (just in time) replenish is better but harder to predict), but more than needed is a waste. Once they get the stock back to the levels they want, you will only see the items back at GE only. So this type of thing is only to reduce stock levels or if they discontinue and item and want to get rid of it faster.

Didn't sites like ebay negate the idea of park exclusives in order to attract visitors 20 years ago? If the park has something you really want it is still cheaper and faster to buy it at double the price off ebay/third party sites.

Yes and no. Anytime you buy or do something, there is opportunity cost (opportunity cost refers to what you have to give up to buy what you want in terms of other goods or services..)

So if all you want is say arm load of GE product, you have to factor in the costs of lost wages or value of paid vacation, travel expense (gas, food, lodgings, park ticket cost, the value of any other activity you could be doing instead (even taking a nap has personal value to a person). You have to weigh those against the mark up of the item and dermine which is the better deal. So in this case, yes going eBay is better.

But if you are planning a vacation to Disney, or you live in Orlando and have season passes, these costs are much lower. You are already paying for most of the above already. You will get a better value personally buying the stuff yourself at the park.

So for each person it is different based on your situation.
