Hi Folks
If you have the guts, this is an effective way to use the original blades to create and unstable blade look.
The result is very effective and when it cools it is rock solid so good for cleaning with a tooth brush and display. I removed the diffusers first by removing the pins from the cross guard. Once done I then took a soldering iron on a high heat and made the flame effect. It takes a touch of skill to leave the iron on the blade long enough to melt and drag the plastic up and across. I like the longer spikes which are very solid.
I would like to say it easy, but if you feel that you do not have the appropriate skill and are worried that you may go through or ruin your blades then do not attempt. This took about 45 mins for each blade and I am going to do the main blade next. I will also be rubbing down the paint before creating that used look seen in the film for the hilt.
I have a few burn marks that are easily removed via a scalpel. If you do attempt, clean your soldering iron every 5 mins to prevent the transfer of burnt plastic.
This is for my Kylo Ren build (501) so I wanted the unstable blade look on a permanent basis.
