After having so much fun in my Kino ASM2 suit and being inspired by Grampsee's build - http://www.therpf.com/f78/spider-man-symbiote-suit-build-210215 - I decided to go down the symbiote route.
Keen to try and avoid the "black pajama" look of some plain symbiote suits I looked at a few different variations.
I looked at a Taylor McManus print, tried my hand at modifying Ken's ASM2 file and contacted El Fett about one I had seen him do,
I finally settled on Grampsee's pattern but asked him to remove the muscle shading and to invert the colours on what would be the blue sections of the ASM1 pattern
He was great and I ended up with this.
I did try and use a UK company for the sub-dye, but after 2 sample prints, one of my modified Ken file and one of Taylor's print, coming back as just black, off to FOD it went
As well as my normal 9-5, I am also an Ironman triathlete and train about 12-20 hours a week.
Add to that a lovely GF whom I want to spend time with and the fact that my painting skills are not the best, I was concerned about the 80-100 hours of painting required.
This meant only one thing............CALL EL FETT (well PM him)
Not wanting to pay extra shipping/customs (once to me $50, once to El Fett) I decided to gamble and get the print sent straight to El Fett.
I was banking on his expertise in recognising a bad print and letting me know.
Email from FOD said the pattern was being printed this week.
Imagine my surprise this morning, as I got a PM from El Fett saying they had my print, and had completed one leg already!!
Obviously (he says hoping) the flash makes the black dye pattern look lighter, but I was considering some over-dying anyway.
Updates to follow
