full size falcon?

this. i bolded specifically what would be even more profitable. id love for a falcon door to lead to a man room, or a entrance ramp leading to my back yard, or my home theater or office to be set up like the cockpit.

i dont think you might be of the "I WANT TO BE THE ONLY ONE!" types but this would be a great idea to fund your falcon even if you were.

i agree. i'd love to have an entrance ramp to a workshop in the backyard or something. and just blueprints. hell, i'd even pay rent every month to live in chris' falcon!!!
(and sadly i think that we would all be living in our falcons alone without our lady friends.)

yeah now everyone is in for a quick buck and EBAY was invented back then...so i understand them getting rid of it. Now most of the crews piece out everything for themselves it seems..( i'm not in the film industry , just stayed at a holiday Inn express)

OK, who didn't want to build a full-size Falcon? (My best friend and I thought it would be easier just to shrink ourselves down to fit a model.) Did you see Mental Ward Films' attempt at a full-size Falcon from a few years back?

I remember reading back around 1980 how the FS Falcon was being "hermetically sealed" (direct quote) to save it for the next movie. I guess that's what "wrapped in plastic" means.

Actully Pinhead, Chris has done more that just made T-Shirts. He is in the process of fabricating and pouring the footings, building the shop and collecting parts. He has also purchased the land, cleared the area for the falcon and shop to sit on plus graded it.
Chris has also been to my house to take measurements of certain items in my collection to be used for his Falcon.
Now he is fine tuning his R2 and working on the R2 builders CV room project. He is a very respected member on the RPF,R2 Builders, 501ST Midsouth Garrison and my friend. I have no doubt that he will complete the Full Scale Falcon and do an incredible job.

Before you fire a shot at someone, you should probly look around the boards and see some of the amazing things members have made and are capable of, plus have more than 4 post to your name.

AMEN to the above. Chris has one of the coolest R2's....it actually projects the Leia image from the holo. If he says he'll build it...it will be there!

Wow. Now that's a project I can be impressed by. Back in the 90's I built some full-scale Apollo replicas with interactive games/exhibits inside, so I know what you're talking about. Although the ones I worked on were for a museum interior, we still used mostly aluminum, fiberglass and steel. Have you experimented with the elastomer coating to see if you can tint or paint it?

Anything can be done if it is your will. Good luck with this project. Maybe even just start bit by bit. It doesn't have to be completed in a day or a week or even a year. Set out little goals & slowly build it up. If I had enough room i would build one for sure in the backyard. Bit by bit by bit. :thumbsup If I won the Lotto it would get built without a doubt:rolleyes

PS There really is no excuse for what they did to the Falcon. we were all told it was in storage when it was sitting in a junk yard. it should have been in a museum. why didn't lucas just set up a museum. It would have been packed everyday of the week.

The article off that link, The Last Corellian Shipyard, is amazing. Air-pressure hover jets? I wonder if Lucasfilm still has the original plans for that set...

A private collector that frequents the RPF I believe still owns those plans and another collector owns the scaled model frame.

Steve Sansweet owns the scale model of the metal framework for the full size Falcon. I saw it several years ago at his place. It's pretty neat.

As far as the full scale Falcon goes, it's pretty clear that it would've cost a bloody fortune to store that beast over the past 30 years, plus it was only made to be used in one or two films. It wasn't built to last. Sure neat to see those pics though.
