full-size Battle droids?

Has anyone made full-sized battle droid replicas from any of the latest 3 Star Wars movies? I've been hankering to buy or maybe build one...

MLC/Mardon has made a replica. I also know there are screen-cast molds out there somewhere. I've wanted one as well, but its out of my budget. I wouldn't mind just having the head though.

I know of at least one or 2 people. One person made... 6? Before the 1st movie even came out. They were based on the small action figures. A little bit thicker than the real deal, because obviously the small figures aren't super detailed. But they still looked cool.

Of course, LFL made some real world ones, two. I think some were used in stunts (getting cut in half). Plus they had a full sized one at the Science of Star Wars exhibit.

I could never afford one of the ones offered.
I am going to try making one by using resin and fiberglass over the top of the lifesize 3-D cardboard version. May not work, but what the heck:cool

Here's another pic:

I got this one that is supposed to be one of the cut in half ones used for the film. I can't prove it but if you want some closer pics I can post them tonight

That would be great, Tetmatek - The more pics the merrier I always say:thumbsup
**plus I can use them for reference when building up mine:rolleyes

Someone had one of the cardboard models assembled at Fallcon last weekend. It looked surprisingly good. (Maybe I'm just getting accustomed to paper models, tho.) It's isn't full sized, however. It's pretty big. But the one that they had at the Science of Star Wars exhibit was a lot bigger than I thought it would be. And probably at least 10% bigger than the cardboard model. You could probably photocopy or scan the cardboard version and enlarge it.

I'm not an expert, but the 1/6 scale plastic model, and even the toy, seemed pretty accurate.

I have the paper (cardboard) one and I do think they did a great job with it. I am surprised to hear it is on the small side since it is human sized- not a large size but still it looks about right. That is OK I suppose, If I never put it next to one the correct size I should be OK with it. I am nervous about ruining it by adding fiberglass and Bondo, but I think it is possible - heck I see people scratch build helmets that way and this is already shaped and put together.:rolleyes

I'm not sure how big the "real" ones are. I just know they seemed to be taller than me, and I'm 6' 4". BUT, it's kinda tough to say, because the display they were in at the museum had a base... which I didn't measure. But at a guesstimate, it might have been 4" - 6"? So I'm thinking they'd be 6 feet tall, possibly a tad taller. Not a lot of help, I'm afraid. I just know that the cardboard one I saw seemed smallish after the museum one. Still looked pretty cool, though.

Could you not use it to make another one in cardboard? Im guessing it can be dismantled for easy storage. Then you dont have to use your original version.

I would make a Battle droid out of wood, it’s cheap, easy to work with and it’s strong. BTW, awesome droid you got there jediscout72:cool

This has been simmering in the back of my brain for years. Any blueprints/schematics out there? I shy away from a lot of projects because I'm so utterly bad at the measurements. Guess I could just pony up and buy the standee to work from...

A Battle droid at a convention in my country, approx 8 or 7 years ago. (bad picture, sorry) The owner of the droid was from the UK, I forgot his name:confused
