Full face Masks/headpieces

I have a few idea's of costumes that I would like to try and make but they will require some kind of full face mask to work and I was just wondering if anyone had any advice on where to start. I have never done this kind of thing so will be learning as I go.

I won't be needing them until about 2016 so I have plenty of time to learn.

Any Advice or tips would be brilliant, Thank you
