"Fra-gee-lay... That must be Italian..."

This'd be a great companion piece to a Red Ryder 200 shot carbine... :lol

You mean this... ;)

I've been wanting that Leg Lamp to go with my RR for a looong time! Maybe some day. :)

Now that's what I'm talking about, but... which is the correct size, 45" or 50"? Once I get that verified, it's time to finally pull the trigger. (snicker!) :rolleyes

I would go with the 50". The 45" doesn't have the butt cheek like in the film.

Now where do I get the red ryder!?!?!?

The Daisy red ryder are still readily available.

Beeb's, on the other hand, has a couple of custom mods. Most noticeably, a compass in the stock and this thing that tells time ;) :lol

I torture my wife with multiple showing of A Christmas Story annually

showed the lamp to my wife...

she said.. "uh, that's great... I'd hate to have to break it..."

to which I replied

"NOTAFINGER!"

I picked up my rifle at Walmart. 19.99. With Beeb's help, I modded my rifle as well. :thumbsup

Do they still make the Buck Jones model? (The one that actually had the compass and sundial on the stock?) I wonder if you could take the stock from this one and attach it to a Red Ryder?

Do you actually see the compass or sundial in the movie, or are we just making this mod because Ralphie mentions it? :rolleyes

Actually, the one they used in the movie was made special by Daisy. IIRC, Daisy told Jean S. that they never made a Red Ryder model with a compass and sundial, but that's what he wanted so that's what they made. Daisy did a small run of these after the movie was released. They are tough to find and are expensive when you do.

You can see the sundial and compass in glimpses during the movie but you have to be looking for it to see it.

I made mine from a current model and added the sundial and a custom made compass and brass bands to the stock and barrel.

Sorry to highjack the thread! Back to the major award!!

I have had my Red Ryder for almost 30 years. The leather rotted off a while back, but I still have the gun! My wife and I love "A Christmas Story". I'll bet she would let me put that lamp in the window if I got one.
