Hey gang,
Life events necessitate my continued selling of items from my personal collection. Some of these are things I thought I'd never sell.
Please do NOT use the buy-it-now button (it can mess with Paypal) but send me a PM instead!
This is one of those I'm really on the fence about, because it was such a chore to make and one of the pieces I'm very proud of. For anyone who's been following the builds of this prop around here, you probably know how difficult they are to make. (Just ask fellow RPFer and maker Rennaisance Man!) None of them turn out 'perfect'. Well, this was my attempt, and while it's still not perfect (there's still the odd bubble) it's as darn-near as it can get without having access to pressure-pots for casting and making a high-end silicone mold.
This is a one-of-a-kind piece as I used a slow-pour method of slow-setting clear "water resin", like the stuff used on model railroads and epoxy tables. You have to carefully pour just a little each time over several days to limit heat buildup. Then I had to drill dozens of small holes and fill the cavities and surface bubbles with a syringe. It also has my final size-corrections and the final versions of the screen-transfered runes on the surface.
When you look through it, you really get that eerie "optical depth" feeling.
So, if you're wanting one of these and on the fence, don't wait too long 'cause I might change my mind, and I don't relish the idea of making another any time soon!
