FOUND!!! Original 1967 CYBERMAN helmet

Cyberman

Sr Member
A friend of mine has sent me these pics of a screen used Cyberman Helmet from the classic 1967 adventure "Tomb of the Cybermen". The pictures show how crudely these were made. The handles are missing but would have been clear plastic. There are maybe only 5 of these in existance in the world... the ones seen in Dr Who exhibitions, in the UK, are replicas.

Does my hearts good to see it's still around.

[the Doctor and Rose come across the head of a Cyberman in Van Statten's museum]
The Doctor: Oh, look at you.
Rose Tyler: What is it?
The Doctor: An old friend of mine, well... enemy. The stuff of nightmares, reduced to an exhibit. I'm getting old.

beautiful, in that wonderful, cruddy lookin' fashion that only originals ever really have.

Thanks for sharing the pics.

Oh that's phenomenal.... Thank you for showing those, it's great to see such a huge part of Who history survives, and looks pretty damn good too.

These were posted up on the richard who collectors site about 2 months ago, it's not just the helmet... the jammy sod has the full costume.

Here's a couple screen caps for those that don't know
top one was "colorized"

What an incredible find.

Even back in their hey-day, the Cybermen were frightening just as they are in their most current iteration.

So that makes, what, three known designs?

It is a thing of beauty.

I love all the Cybermen in all their incarnations.

It is amazing it has survived and is still around.

As Dano said the owner also has an original suit as well, which is absolutely incredible..

Ooooo, the Silver Nemesis version.... very cool, as that story was filmed in my home town.

Its interesting to notice the air holes around the band above the eyes. This must have been a background stunt helmet rushed out to bump up the numbers lol

On a further note to the variations... There was also 3 Cybercontroller designs with the large brain cases.
