Found!!! Obi ANH 'Gear'!!!

Outstanding work --

One question, for those of us that want the original part, any part number, accurate description (recol booster, heatsink, 30 cal, etc) to help in our search.

Thanks,

DJ

:lol

I just watched Serafino's long, long photo scroll up the screen like the freaking Star Destroyer...

That is just... just... wow.

Now, give the guy a break. He's on vacation. :D

This is awesome. I cant wait to own an accurate replica of that saber. Always been my favorite. Congratulations Serafino. Have a good vacation.

:eek I can't believe what I'm seeing.

Part of me always felt that one or two of the components would never be found. I'm so glad that I was wrong. :D

Outstanding job, guys.

Great work guys. Incredible.

Ok, so that's a run of emitters, gears, and pommels for the Obi Saber and a run of Solo blaster muzzles.

The next mysteries to solve are how the emitter is attached to the grenade stem, and what the original parts for the scope mount and grill for the Hero blaster are.

Cool.

I cannot believe it is done. The search is over, Obi-wan's saber is now complete......

I am in true amazement.

Congratulations to all that provided, helped, searched, researched, and sweated blood and tears, you are all my heroes..

Tom

I'm just pissed off that I broke down and bought a pretty damn good Obi saber about two months ago...

Now it's completely inaccurate... :(

Upgrades here I come.

Check it out.... especially the little step between the gear (um, I mean, booster) and the pommel:

THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT I WAS THINKING. I was hearing the Imperial March in my head the whole time.

Someone should make a picture of the finished saber, with diagrams & arrows labeling the exact names/models of each part. And by "someone should" I mean PLEASEPLEASEPLEASE someone make one.

That way if anyone of us just happens upon a certain part, you could have a quick reference guide. I'll carry that pic around in my wallet...

There's a quote in John Knoll's books menting "props made of junk"... I would NOT call this junk.

The circle is now complete.

Please let me add my voice to the cacaphony, and offer a hearty congrats to Killdozer and Serafino... two champions of this baby, and excellent detectives both. You've both shown a great deal of co-operation and gentlemanly manners in getting this done in an honourable fashion... grand examples for all.

Three cheers indeed....

Just passing through again guys...

For details on what this is, I'm going to refer you to Killdozer, he's the ringleader on this so that's all up to him.

So what's the length? 39mm?

Otherwise we nailed it right? How does the "U" shape compare???

Come on. Give me some details...

:love

We came REALLY close. The length of the gear alone is just at 1.5", or 38 mm, I have to do the serious measuring later, if anything it's slightly shorter than that. We pretty much nailed the diameter, and the grooves--well, the walls are straighter, the radius at the bottom slightly smaller-looking. Exact comparisons when I have time.

Sumatra--once my modified gears are anodized and painted (by their owners) they will be hard to tell apart, although there are differences in the details. See for yourself in the above picture.

One thing--the tooth 'edges' are flat flat flat. They tend to photograph as rounded because of all the wear and dings. :angel

As for premium runs of this stuff. 'My' machinist is free in a few weeks, but I am going to have to think about how to approach this--I can front money for one run, but 2? :lol

See you all later.

I'm going to cry - seriously :)

that is just a sight of beauty - everything fits so perfectly, like it was meant to be. And the gear is the perfect size and diameter (one thing that has always irked me about some previous renditions) - wow.

Andres, congratulations on having the complete OWK saber. I never thought we would see the day....in LIVING COLOR NO LESS.

wow.

should I say it again?

WOW
