I found this at a local art store. The girl promised good results and it delivers. This has to be the best gold paint I have come across. It is called Montana cans-Gold Chrome.

This company also does 180 other colors.

This is what the cans look like(and a link to buy online):

And here is a quick shot of my idol. I had a couple of finger prints that I have to sand out because I got a bit touchy after I painted it.I want to do a shot in the sun and see what that looks like.

Hmmm... let me know if your finger tips turn gold by touching it again in 2 weeks. :lol

Dry already!

I would say it took about 4 hrs. to fully cure.

Gonna play with it more tomorrow. I have a bunch of those plastic Pirate coins.

That statue looks way cool, and the painting looks perfect for the prop. I'm assuming it was a resin cast. I'm kinda new around these parts, so don't know where one can get the Indy idol. Would you be willing to share your source?

I got it as a gift.

I know that the "Haunted Studios" sells them. I think they have a site of the same name.

So does this paint take finger prints into it like every other gold spray paint? Does it stay shiny after touching it?

After letting it dry completely, I have not added another fingerprint, and I have picked it up a few times.

Well then, this paint actually sounds very promising... I'll have to pick up a can and test it out, thanks! :)

Sounds a lot better than the Plastikote stuff. That NEVER cures and takes fingerprints every time you touch it. The fingerprints cannot be removed either.

hmm must see what other colors they have.
might have something for R2

heres my soon to be metal Idol

Nice idol, but from the color, it makes me think that you should give it a nice, heavy, semi-gloss black coating, and call it the Maltese Idol.

David.
