Hey crew! I came across this interesting Folmer thin knurl red button variant. On the left is the one we know and love with he sharp angle, but the one on the right seems to have a more rounded top. The underside also doesn't have the notches we expect on early Folmer stuff.

I searched around, especially in Graflex Variations: Facts and vs. Replica but I didn't see this anywhere - has anyone come across this version before?

hey, well you haven't seen my awesome thread, "Eethan's cool finds and vintage variations" :D
those were pretty much done by hand it seems and they are all very different! i'm always super surprised by how much variations there are in those vintage parts!

if you check carefully, you'll see the one on the right here also has a very un-even cone shape compared to his contour!

I’ve actually got 3, and 1 of them has the rounded top

I never noticed this until this thread and literally just checked

Interesting

It kinda now looks to me that they knurled the knob and then lathed off space above and below.

I wonder if the later variations just skipped that step and left the full knurl instead of being re designed
