Foam Undermask

GiGi the Pred

New Member
I searched the boards and I couldn't find anything about hand making a foam predator undermask ( by undermask I mean the actual face of the predator) but I found a video from r1a2s3 on youtube, I'll probably post a link to this video later, but I am too lazy to find it. I was wondering if there is a huntorial (besides r1a2s3's one) on how to make one, as I work better with text not video, and if there's a huntorial on painting.
Thank you

I especially like the way the jaws and mandibles move, I haven't seen that particular movement in any other undermask other than grudsecks (idk, if thats correct but w/e)

not to stomp on your parade, but he has an account here. in fact he has posted all of these videos himself. on the boards he goes by predattack if i recall.

he used hot glue apparently. i dont know how because i thought that hot glue dissolved foam but maybe he lets it cool a bit. but the hot glue method was right from his mouth so i guess it must work somehow.

His videos are vague and don't explain enough, so I wouldnt recommend his method. I would search around the topics under foam, take a look at other people's experience with foam, maybe even come up with your own methods.

I too was wondering the same thing as GiGi. So far that foam mask build is the cheapest way to build a full head (as far as i know). It'd be nice for others to shed light on this maybe so this foam method can be considered as an option.

He does it through experimentation and imagination. Thats most of what you need in this hobby.

Just grab a shopping cart and hit up and Art Store and look around. I look at Foam and see knee armor, I see a needle and I know I will use it to sew an armor part on. Hot glue sticks become a molding material.

Think outside the box.

How do you paint/coat foam?
I heard people waste alot of latex when soaks in.

You may want to try spraying the foam in plast-dip, then a few layers of latex tinted with acrylic paint for a base coat, then paint it the same way you would a latex mask. I havent actually used this for a mask but I have done this with foam and it seems to work pretty well.

he uses contact cement u can get it at mostly any Art supply store or other places that sell makers and glue (not a doller store)
