foam shoulder mounting?

so i am about to make my shoulder pieces and i want to figure out how to mount them before i start designing them. im thinking a larger shoulder bell style then ironman.
however i want the bell to attach to the biceps and be able to move freely. i was thinking a hinge pin on each side, but im not sure of what to use or how i would attach it. my bicep pieces do come up to the top of my shoulder.
any ideas would help. pics would help more!

thanks guys and gals

Hope this helps.
I have fixed shoulder bells to upper arm pieces two different way. Firstly with my clone trooper armor I used fasteners/poppers, You get two small pieces of ABS and drill a hole into both pieces. Then heat them up a little and push one half of the fasteners into both holes (you heat it up a bit so you can push the ABS flat around the fasteners, then glue the small pieces onto the inside of eah piece of the armor (one on the upper arm and one on the shoulder bell).
Then you get some material (I use the type of thing that handles are made of for pack packs) cut two holes one at each end and fix the other half of the fasteners into the the holes, then you pop the the fasteners of each end onto the pieces of armor. See pic 1

or this way with foam pieces.

I hope this helps you out.

wow, thats awesome family man, thanks.
you should make a stickied TUT for people.
awesome work!

Grave - I know familyman already answered your question - but then, I'll just stick a more general advice in here.

If you're looking for ideas on what you need to do to be able to wear your armor... I suggest you start looking at how Medieval armor is worn (and how pieces are attached together (where the leather straps are positioned, etc.)) - because I haven't seen any type of sci-fi armor up to now that doesn't seem like a pumped up version of a medieval type of plate armor. The armor pieces are divided - in theory - the same exact way.

A couple of years ago - I've written up a small tutorial on this (that you can find here)... I think it's still good... but you can probably find something with a bit more pictures out there.

You also said somewhere, that you're coming from the 405th... there is a great tutorial over there on wearing a Master Cheif armor... it's a great source of information for wearing any kind of armor. You should give it a look as well.

thanks metal, i was just thinking that foam armor would be different because of how it can rip and your hardware would change. ill take a look and see what works tomorrow after i come up with a design for the plates.

btw. i love your lawgiver

You're right about the foam - it will rip it you put too much stress/tension on specific point... the trick is to distribute the tension by applying hot glue to a larger surface when you're connecting your straps to your armor pieces.

Other than that - it should be "considered" the same as any other armor :)

Thanks man - I should get moving on the Judge armor now :)

getting off topic...
i liked to see that you used different colors of foam, so i know how you layered it to get the right look. ive been holding off on a weapon cause i wasnt sure yet. looking at the law i can figure it out now.
