So Ive gone through the pepakura process with resin and bondo many times and have made several suits in the past year. I spent tons of money through trial and error.
I have found that foam is much easier, funner, cheaper, and the result is very satisfying.
This is my suit:
I wore it for halloween last year. Youu can see the chest is still gray because I just re-did it out of foam. The torso and shoulders used to be fiberglass(which is very uncomfortable to wear.)
Today I made the last part of my costume, the helmet.
For some reason when ever I make the helmet, the eye region seems lop sided. One eye is bigger than the other. I think it is because I mess up the center of the eyes when I attach the lower faceplate to the upper faceplate. Anyways, I'm workin on it still.
I tried hodge podge spray to seal the foam before painting but it didn't work as well as I hoped. So I'll try a few coats of a glue mixture later.
I spent $50 on foam for the entire suit.
Basically all I need to do now is seal the foam really good and repaint the whole thing with chrome!
