Foam Clay question

Greetings, folks,

Looking for longevity evaluation on Foam Clay.
I'm in the planning stages of a project which will require a bunch of replicated decorative elements.
However, I need them to be hollow, compatible with an eva foam base, be paintable and secure with contact adhesive (so no to silicone cast, no to urethane rubber, no to resin, possibly no to apoxie sculpt).
Best solution I can think of is to use a silicone mold for the repeated elements and use foam clay for the cast.

Bill Doran's video highlighted that foam clay dries, contracts and may become brittle at some thicnesses, after as little as a week.

Has anyone used foam clay for decorative elements?
How long ago and is the piece still intact?
Are there any cracks forming long-term?

Thanks!
